Meet Aloren Martin

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aloren Martin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Aloren, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

I believe that optimism is a choice. I choose to be optimistic about what might happen in a situation. This is actually something I trained myself to do. I used to be someone who was very pessimistic. Whenever too many good things happened I would look around and start waiting for the other shoe to drop. One day I saw a video talking about “finding the joy” in everything around you. I had just ended a 6 year relationship and I desperately needed that in my life. So I did what it said. I looked in my day for anything that made me smile. And it could be anything. Maybe it’s an excited puppy on your walk. Or a flower you’ve never seen before. Or an unexpected gift. I would take a picture so I could remember later if I needed. When I started it might be just one thing a day. But soon it was three, or four, until I was seeing things that made me happy everywhere. And as that joy started increasing in my life, I found other aspects were becoming happier too. I was as anxious. I was more likely to see the good side of people. And I was more optimistic about life in general.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello! I’m Aloren and I am the owner of Gaia’s Green Witch. Gaia’s Green Witch started in 2024 as an effort to allow my journey and growth in my spiritual practice to become my only focus in my life. I already knew at that time that my mundane job was not where I want to be for the rest of my life. It also limits my growth and practice, as I am not able to “follow my energy” on the days when I must go to work. Unfortunately it hasn’t grown enough to allow me to quit my mundane job yet, but it’s getting there!
The purpose of Gaia’s Green Witch is to show how easy and accessible magick can be. My spells can be used as aids for those who maybe don’t have the knowledge, or simply don’t have the time or energy to build a spell themselves. There is a misconception that spells must be this huge, elaborate ritual, which isn’t true. They can be extremely simple and still be very effective. I believe there is also a misconception in the community that you have to do everything yourself, or it makes your magick less effective. I find this to be a very ableist view, and makes magick less accessible to those who have disabilities. Or even those of us who have busy lives. Which, let’s face it, is most of us these days. I hope what I offer can help to bring down that barrier and mindset.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One skill I think is very important is learning to develop and trust your intuition. The more confident you become in it, the more in tune you become with yourself and your energy. This can become an invaluable tool to guide you forward in your life. One way to develop it is to use a deck of cards, trying to determine which card is going to be pulled next. Another is to “guess” what color clothes a friend is currently wearing. Or will be wearing the next time you see them.

I also believe it is important to be willing to listen to those with more knowledge/skill than you. Not everyone who claims they have that knowledge truly does, and being able to weed those people out is important. But you can learn a lot from others. Especially in the field of magick, where most of the knowledge base is still taught person to person. I’ve found that those people who are meant to be a guide will cross your path when the time is right. So keep your eyes open for them.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

I think it is important to be well rounded. Not ignoring what is your strength, but making sure to have at least a rudimentary knowledge of other areas. For example, I am a natural healer. Healing and energy work in that respect has always come easily to me. I am currently working on finding other healers, so that I can continue to learn and grow. My lifemate is a warrior. Protection and defense has always come easy to him. But he has knowledge of how to heal, even though I am often the one that heals him. And I have knowledge about protections and how to protect myself, even though he has put defenses around me. It is important to have that knowledge of other areas. Not only for yourself, but because seeing things from that other knowledge base can then allow you to make connections you might not have otherwise.
