Meet Dolla Rise

We were lucky to catch up with Dolla Rise recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Dolla with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Hard work is second hand nature to me. My strong work ethic actually comes from the women in my life. My Mother and my Grandmother. I am one of four children. My mother raised us with no man. My Grandmother was always everything we needed. She filled the void in our lives. My Mom never let the struggle bring us down. She never gave up. She provided for us by working at the bank Monday-Friday and she was a waitress on the weekend. My Mom was constantly furthering her education and was enrolled in college simultaneously. My Grandmother watched us while my Mom was doing what she had to do. She made sure we ate every night and got our homework done.
My Grandmother was a staple in the community. She was loved throughout the city. She was the Manager for Rite Aid for over 20 years. She rode the bus from our neighborhood all the way downtown at the crack of every morning. She opened the gate at the store and turned the alarm on at night as she closed the store. Both of my ladies made sure to instill certain traits and behaviors in me. One of those things is a strong work ethic. I believe that You can have anything you want. You just have to work hard for it.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the face of a few brands. I have an umbrella of services that I offer. I started out as a rapper who wanted to be heard. Dolla Rise aka D.R. I am about getting my bread up.
My life story is very interesting and I always felt that my music will bring me the attention I need. I just wanted to tell the world about my struggles and how I overcame them. I thought about all of these ventures when I was locked away in the penitentiary hole alone with nothing to keep me sane but my thoughts and hope for the future.
In my lifetime I have taken a ton of chances betting on myself. Everything doesn’t always stick. There were even times where I risked my freedom and life to get at a dollar. I hustled daily to find a way out of my situation. I took the risk to get further ahead in life.
As a rapper I started to create a buzz for myself. It got to the point where I needed merch to sell and capitalize off of my popularity. I didn’t want to sell t shirts with my name on them. I wanted to sell shirts that the customer could relate to. I wanted to express how I feel and I wanted a movement. I came up with Risk Takerz Clothing. It was exactly the message I wanted to get out. The brand sums up my life and my outlook. I feel that you must take risk to succeed in any situation. You cannot be fearful. You must be courageous and bold. Every successful person is a Risk Taker. They are the ones who put themselves out there. They do not care what others think or do. They are motivated and have a strong desire to achieve greatness.
On my journey, there was a void inside of me that I could not figure out. I knew I wanted something else but did not know what it was. I was not happy where I was. I wanted change. I wanted to see more. I wanted my children to have better opportunities than I had. It was time for me to leave my comfortable place where I lived all of my life and settle elsewhere.
I packed up my family and we traveled from the East Coast to the West Coast. We settled in Las Vegas. I was excited by the fresh start. I wanted to bring my hustle to a new place.
I hit the ground running to get my businesses going. When I first got here I brought with me my clothing line and my custom apparel company. I put myself in school to learn how to install vehicle wraps. I now offer these services as Phlashy Wraps. I was driving one day and another idea hit me. The weather is nice all year here. I decided I want to be in the party rental business. I started another venture. Phlashy Rentals. We have bounce houses, a water slide and we rent chairs and tables. My printing company is Phlashy Imaging, so I made the brother and sister companies Phlashy Rentals and Phlashy Wraps. PH in the beginning because of my love of where I am from. Philadelphia.
I have recently joined the internet world and became a Podcaster. My podcast is Real F’n Reviews. I review pretty much any and everything. I didn’t want to stay in one lane. As you hear, I never do.
I give my takes on pop culture, entertainment, foods, sports, clothes, games, other podcast and etc. We are not in a box over here. Check for Real F’n Reviews to hit the net real soon.
I also partnered up with my homie from Philly and we opened a recording and podcast studio, with an event space as well. 4300 Studios. It is the home of my podcast and any other entity that is looking to rent time or space. I am busy. I don’t like to be bored or stagnant. I want to build a legacy and leave these things behind for my family’s future generations.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

First of all my faith in God has always kept me level and comfortable. I know I am blessed and God will never let me down. Persistence helped me when I needed to push through. I couldn’t let failures or losses hold me back or keep me down. I am hit with something new often that would set back a normal person. I use these things as strength and motivation.
I have learned to be a people person. I need people as consumers and supporters. I am in the business of meeting people. I am constantly growing my network and I have to be a social person in order to do so. My natural abilities have gotten me where I am and will propel my businesses in the future.
I am never comfortable. I have to keep moving. I take a risk with every move I make. My moves are calculated and thought out. I am not afraid to lose and start over. I used to be in the streets, so I took what I learned then and applied it to my current lifestyle.
I say to those who are listening to never give up. Don’t let others talk you out of your dreams because they gave up on theirs. Let your fears motivate you and attack. Get what is yours. Take that risk.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am most definitely looking for people to partner up with. I feel no business can make a proper impact without a team. I can’t do everything by myself. I’ve tried and I know the results were much better when I had someone like-minded rocking with me and grinding with me to make it happen. I am looking for someone who is not selfish and for the team. We need to all be on the same accord. We should have a common goal. I need someone who is a team player, but can represent the company properly when they are moving alone. I am looking for somebody who takes a charge as well as listens. I need someone who wakes up in the morning and gets right to the business. I want a partner who is about their business and takes this seriously. You gotta work as hard as I do. You gotta love what we do. I can be reached on all social media, email or phone. I have pages for all of my companies. It is not hard to find me. Reach out and tap in with me.
