Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lizzy Hudson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lizzy , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I have learned valuable lessons from every difficult experience I’ve faced. It began when I lost my mother at a young age. It didn’t make sense to me why she would be taken from us, but we were fortunate to be adopted by her best friend, who provided us with new opportunities. This early loss taught us about life’s challenges sooner than most.
Throughout high school and college, I often encountered uncomfortable situations that forced me to find a way forward. I could only overcome these obstacles by persevering and refusing to give up. I had a vision for my life, and I was determined to pursue it relentlessly.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I thrive in ambiguous and changing landscapes and bring others together to accomplish shared objectives. I am always eager to learn new strategies and tools to help ascending brands achieve new heights. I also have a background in content production and marketing, having launched and managed multiple businesses and podcasts. My passion is to reach people with engaging and relevant media that aligns with their interests and needs. As a Digital Strategist at C+C, a communications agency dedicated to making the world a better place, I collaborate with brands and organizations that stand for larger causes. I also host the Live to Thrive Podcast, where I amplify POC voices and share insights from guests on how to navigate life’s challenges. My online community is a space where people can openly discuss their experiences, with the hope that every listener can take away something valuable from each episode.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
– Always believe in yourself because no one else will, and advocate for yourself even when it’s hard.
-Pay attention to detail.
-Find mentors. It’s not just important, it’s crucial to always have mentors to guide and support you in your growth.
-Reach out to other people your age in the field you want to enter.
-Never stop learning.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
To respect myself and my time. In today’s society, people quickly think of kindness as a weakness. Always understand your value and what you bring to the table. Give people chances. However, if they keep showing you who they are, listen, learn, and move on.
