Meet Ian Childress

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ian Childress. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ian below.

Ian, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I am 100% a product of my environment. I’ve seen everyone in my family work to the bone for the things they’ve wanted or currently want & I’m no different. I’m willing to go farther & stay longer if it means I get closer to my dreams.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Ian Childress & I’m the owner of The NBHD Plug. Its a streetwear brand based out of Greensboro, NC. I feel my brand is special because of my message & how I involve my community with my brand. I am currently working on a rollout for my hoodie capsule coming soon in the next upcoming weeks.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities I that think are the most impactful are Confidence, Determination, & Faith. I think that something any upcoming entrepreneur should know is that it’s going to be hard days. Nothing comes overnight & you will have $5 & you may have $500 days but the process stays the same. Stay the course & invest in yourself & your team so you can build a safety net within your circle.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

The biggest area of growth I’ve seen has honestly been the use of resources. That includes social media, peer to peer networking, and collaborations with other brand owners. I’ve never been the type to ask for things because I felt it took away from the growth of my brand but honestly that was doing the most harm in hindsight. I’m an advocate for building a village & passing down the game to those who truly want to learn it now.
