Meet Melina Feijoo

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Melina Feijoo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Melina , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

In the process of looking for a career that suits me, I found the art of beauty and from the first moment I knew that I wanted to dedicate myself to that.
Why does it help me enhance women’s beauty, make them feel empowered and raise their self-esteem.
I feel like that is my purpose and I am fulfilling it.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My approach is based on personalization, understanding my clients’ needs and creating looks that reflect their personality and style. “I seek not only to beautify, but also to empower people, helping them feel confident and radiant on any occasion.”

Perfect technical skills: Continue training in new trends and techniques in makeup and hairdressing, attending specialized workshops and courses.

Client Education: Offer workshops and tutorials to help my clients learn how to do makeup and hair, promoting an empowerment approach.

Sustainability: Integrate sustainable products and practices into my work, prioritizing the use of ethical and responsible cosmetics.

My goal is to expand to catwalks like Victoria Secret.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I consider the three most impactful qualities in my journey to be patience, positivity and communication .
Patience: Allows you to handle challenging situations calmly, taking the time necessary to perfect the look and ensure the client is completely satisfied.
In addition, it fosters an environment of trust where the client feels valued and listened to.

Communication: Effective communication is crucial to understanding customer expectations and ensuring they feel comfortable and satisfied. It allows you to clarify doubts, offer suggestions and adjust the look based on feedback, guaranteeing that the final result reflects the client’s vision.

Positivity: A positive approach creates a relaxed and welcoming environment for the client. Not only does this help reduce anxiety, especially on important occasions, but it also creates a more enjoyable and memorable experience, which can lead to referrals and loyalty.
In order to develop these skills, I recommend that you educate yourself and Connecting with other makeup professionals who can open doors and offer learning opportunities. Remember that every great makeup artist started from scratch and grew thanks to practice.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The biggest obstacle for me at the moment is the language barrier, as my first language is Spanish and I’ve only just started learning English. However, this has not prevented me from continuing to grow in my professional life, as I am studying hard to improve and communicate, which in turn will help me succeed in my professional and personal life.
