We were lucky to catch up with Eduardo Togi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eduardo , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
Since I was a kid, I always had this sense that I didn’t quite fit in, whether it was with my family, my hometown, or even the friends I had. I was often the ‘weird kid’ who didn’t seem to belong, and that led me to spend a lot of time alone, especially during my elementary school years. But instead of letting that isolate me, it made me realize that I had the power to create my own path. Growing up in a small town like Tampico, I quickly learned that breaking out of the mold meant taking risks. I wasn’t afraid to step away from what society expected of me, and that instinct for risk-taking has been with me ever since.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hey, I’m Eduardo Togi, a musician, writer, and occasional actor. My passion? Creating art that reflects my journey of self-discovery. When I make music, write, or perform, I dive into a unique, transformative experience. Every note I play, every line I write, and every scene I perform is a dive into something truly special.
I’m thrilled to share that my second album, The Secrets of My Universe on a Desert Night, is dropping this January, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring it to the world. This project has been such a personal journey for me, filled with challenges, growth, and so much passion. The album is a wild blend of psychedelic rock, Western vibes, and 80s synths, spiced with melancholic lyrics. It’s dedicated to those who truly seek to step beyond the veil of ordinary reality and tap into something more profound. To really hear the frequencies and messages woven into the music, it might just require you to step outside of the everyday—perhaps with a little help from our natural allies, if you know what I mean. It’s an album to be felt as much as heard, meant to resonate on a deeper, more cosmic level.
Alongside the album, I’ll also be releasing some unique visuals that are just as immersive as the sound itself. I truly believe this is music that people will experience in ways they haven’t before. Crafted over two years, this album is a snapshot of my life in L.A., filled with highs, lows, and everything in between. It’s a celebration of who I’ve become, and I can’t wait to share it with the world!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think one of the most important qualities I’ve developed is resilience—learning to get back up, time after time, with my head held high. Life’s thrown its fair share of challenges my way, from disappointments with people to doors slamming shut. But through it all, I’ve never given up. Even when I came close to walking away, something inside kept me pushing forward. That’s something I’m really proud of.
Another key aspect has been my experience. I’ve been immersed in the music, theater, and acting world for over twenty years now. During that time, I’ve had the privilege of learning from so many professionals in these fields. They’ve shaped my perspective and taught me the ins and outs of the industry.
And finally, I think one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to own my creativity. My art, my music—it all belongs to me. I’ve realized I don’t need anyone’s approval to validate what I create. I learned, often the hard way, not to care too much about what others think. Everyone views art through their own lens, and that’s what makes it so unique. I embrace different perspectives and criticisms because they remind me that no two minds are alike.
My advice for anyone on their own journey, whether it’s music, art, or anything else, is to stay open-minded. Not everyone will connect with what you create, and that’s okay. You’re not on the same wavelength or frequency as everyone, and you don’t have to be. Your art will resonate with those who are meant to see it, who are on the same journey as you. It’s for the people who are ready to experience it, and that’s what matters. You don’t need to be seen by everyone—just by those who truly understand and appreciate what you’re offering.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
The album is finished now, but I’m definitely open to collaborating on remixes of the songs. In fact, this album is built to be a canvas for creative collaborations with incredible artists I admire. It all depends on their availability and, of course, if they feel drawn to being part of this unique and artistic journey. I believe this album offers a special space for collaborations that can elevate the music in ways we can’t yet imagine.
