Meet Kate King

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kate King. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kate, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Confidence and self esteem are not gained overnight, nor are they a one-stop shop. Especially in the world we live in today, building a strong base of confidence and self-esteem requires consistent self-reflection and inner work. Much of what was required for me to build such a base is the un-learning of outdated, possibly harmful narratives, beliefs, and core-perceptions about myself that held me back and kept me feeling small. When I intentionally worked with the thoughts, values, and messages I picked up throughout life that limited my potential and dulled my self-worth, I became free to re-discover confidence and self esteem as it suits me in the present moment. I may not have fit the mold in ways I previously hoped I would. In many ways, my life looks and feels differently than my younger Self imagined. I have learned to follow my own rhythm and make controversial choices that others have difficulty understanding. By living with such authenticity and integrity, I ultimately connected with the true confidence and self esteem that originates from inside myself and emanates outwardly from there. It’s not about becoming who I felt I was supposed to be, it’s about owning who I am and fully embracing myself from that perspective that develops true confidence.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My experience is sourced from a 17+ year background as a Licensed Professional Counselor prior to becoming a Radiant Life Coach. My work also stems from being a Board-Certified Art Therapist, artist, multi-award-winning author, and fellow traveler along the meandering journey of life. As the founder and owner of The Radiant Life Project, my mission is to help individuals heal their inner wounds so that they can positively contribute to the evolving collective. This is incredibly important in today’s world where massive changes are happening on both large and small scales. The deeper and more authentically each person is willing to heal themselves, the more impactfully they can shape the world for the better. My work teaches how to ignite your inner spark with psychology-based personal growth books, inspirational public speaking, creative consulting, and individual and group coaching. I have an eclectic approach that sources inspiration and impactful resources, tools, and practices to support my clients in cultivating a life of greater authenticity and fulfillment.

My work incorporates a fusion of brain sciences, diverse psychology teachings, spiritual practices, creative expression, and attuned connection to provide a unique and effective strategy for the healing, growth, and freedom of authentic living. My utmost passion is teaching others how to heal their inner wounds, discover their truest Selves, and build nourishing aligned relationships.

My three-time first place award-winning book, “The Radiant Life Project,” is a psychological self-help guide that integrates creativity, therapeutic teachings, cutting-edge science, and spirituality unlike anything else you have seen before. To cultivate a life that rings with the empowering truth of authentic radiance, order your copy online wherever you buy books.

My 2014 book, “The Authentic Mother,” is a creatively-based companion book that offers artistic, scientific, and therapeutic supportive healing tools for new parents on the complex journey of welcoming a child into their lives.

Coming in the Fall of 2025: My brand new book centered around cultivating healthy, nourishing relationships of all kinds (friendships, partnerships, family bonds, and professional connections), and discerning when a troubling relationship is worth investing in further, and when it needs to end.

I am also the creator of the Ink & Wings Oracle Deck. This 46-card deck is comprised entirely of my artwork, and can be used for personal exploration, reflection, and intuitive development.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I love this question because I think it is important to embrace the “Journey” perspective and never feel like there is a “there” to get to where we stop evolving. There is always something to learn, new skills to incorporate, and outdated qualities to let go of. That being said, my three most impactful pieces of advice for folks who are early in their journey would be:

1) Realize how much you don’t know, and open your mind to learning from everyone and everything you encounter. Mistakes are for learning. Embarrassing moments have pearls of wisdom embedded in them. Challenging relationships are incredible teachers. When things feel hard, ask yourself what lesson you can take away from the experience, and then integrate it.

2) Stay flexible. Everything changes, and sometimes you can’t predict how the changes will unfold or what they will look like. If you are too attached to an idea or goal, rigidly grasping something you think you want, you may very well miss out on an important redirection that is trying to guide you somewhere better.

3) The proof really is in the pudding. You have to work hard. You have to give it all you’ve got. It doesn’t matter if you’re building a brand, growing a garden, or cultivating a new relationship. Most likely, you’re going to get out of it what you put into it. So bring your heart, mind, body, and soul on-board and leave nothing behind. Yes, it will be hard. There will be days you want to quit. You’ll question yourself and wonder if you are an imposter. But if what you’re doing really matters to you, if you really want it, keep going and give it your very best.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Can I plug my own book, “The Radiant Life Project” here? Sort of kidding, not kidding. Honestly, writing my book and bringing it into the world has been incredibly impactful in ways that I will be forever grateful for. In order to write my book and bring such a high-quality evidence-based resource to the public, I had to walk my talk in a big way. I had to dive into the research and back-up everything I share with my readers. I had to implement and integrate my teachings into my own life in real, powerful ways. I had to dig deep, heal myself, grow into the person who can speak about the topics I share both clinically as a professional and personally as a human. It made me better in so many ways.

Outside of my own book, Martha Beck’s book, “The Way of Integrity” has been integral for me. I recommend this book to everyone and anyone who is at a threshold in their life that demands truth, honesty, and difficult decisions that require integrity. It’s not the easy or fast way, but a life of integrity is incredibly empowering and fulfilling. Beck’s book is an incredible guiding light for bringing more integrity into your life for the betterment of every element of your relationships with others and yourself, your career path, and your overall engagement with your life.
