Meet Yu Tang

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yu Tang. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yu below.

Hi Yu, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Self-confidence: refers to an individual’s cognition and evaluation of their ability and value. At the core of self-confidence is a belief in one’s abilities and positive future expectations. Self-esteem refers to the degree of self-recognition and self-love, and building true self-esteem and confidence is a gradual process that takes some practice and effort. Here’s how I developed my confidence and self-esteem.
1)Get to know yourself: Take time to think about and understand your values, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. Accept your uniqueness and value yourself as a unique individual.
2)Improve yourself comprehensively:We should not only find our gaps, and make up for our shortcomings, but also improve our quality so that our ability and quality are higher and higher so that we are more refined.
3)Set goals and challenges: Set specific and achievable goals and gradually achieve them. Challenging yourself and trying new things will boost your confidence in your abilities.
4)Respect others and cultivate positive relationships: Respect for others comes first.
5)Have a positive mindset, self-care, and self-care.
6)Accept challenges and failures.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, and planner, as well as a recommender for Chinese films to participate in international film festivals, and an explorer dedicated to family education. As a film producer and planner, I have successfully produced and distributed 10 feature films(《Senior Entourage》《Tibetan Hearts》《On Matriarchy Lake》etc.); six short films(《Dedicated to Qiutong》《Teenagers in The Capital》《Mountain Streaming》etc.); Co-wrote four screenplays(《The Rose’s Fairy Legend 》《Classic of Universe》etc.). Currently, six films are planned and in the preparation stage. As a recommender for Chinese films to participate in international film festivals, I have successfully recommended more than 200 Chinese films to participate in international film festivals.

In nearly 20 years of working in the film industry, I am proud of the following:
1)In 2009, I recommended Chinese children’s films to the United States and Egypt to participate in
international film festivals and won awards, becoming the recommender of Chinese children’s films, which are known as ”
environmental protection” films, to go international for the first time, and won praise from Chinese children’s filmmakers.
2)Since 2010, I have recommended nine kinds of Chinese opera films such as Yu Opera, Yang Opera, Xi Opera, and
Cantonese opera to international film festivals, so that China’s diversified opera can be understood and appreciated by
countries around the world.
3)Since 2013, I have recommended films from 23 ethnic groups, including Mongolian, Tibetan, MoSuo, and Zhuang, to
international film festivals, so that China’s diverse ethnic culture can be understood and respected by the world.
4)The film “Dark Sword”, which I planned, was released in 2017 and received more than 600 million hits on the Chinese
Internet.

I’m currently working on three new film projects in the United States:《The Vault B》《Eastern May flower》《Classic of Universe》(Animation). Each film is different in its subject matter and presentation. I hope readers will pay attention to these three films.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think personal interests, abilities, and values have a great impact on my career. I recommend that everyone should focus on their personal interests, whether it be skills or careers, cultivate personal abilities around their interests, and use their own values to ensure achievement.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents are teachers and their willingness to help others has a great influence on me. From the beginning of his work, my father spent 25% of his salary every month to help students so that they would not drop out and continue their education. My mother used her spare time to knit sweaters and make cotton-padded clothes and shoes with her skillful hands to give to children and lonely elderly people. Parents have insisted on using their abilities to help others for decades, sending warmth to many children and families, and changing the fate of many children. Therefore, under the influence of my parents, I also insisted on doing public welfare and founded the Chongqing Parents Club to spread scientific parenting knowledge to families in need. The charity has been around for 16 years and has helped tens of thousands of families.
