Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jazmyn Alexis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jazmyn , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from knowing my purpose. I knew at a very young age I was destined to create meaningful and relatable music that was going to last past my lifetime. I spent my entire child and adulthood training and developing my vocal abilities for this mission. My resilience is directly connected to my calling because in my eyes, I have no other choice but to follow the journey which feeds my soul the most. I knew that suicide was never an option for me, so I figured I had to live out my life exuding everything creative in me until there’s nothing left.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe my hunger for knowledge, the will to start and the need to express my most authentic self were the most impactful qualities that shaped my journey.
It’s always so important be able to learn in every situation you’re in. Whether it be how to do something correctly, how to improve on something or to know when to avoid things that don’t work for your greatest good!
It’s also very important to not be afraid to start. Me personally, I’m a perfectionist and I want everything to be so air tight , free of errors that I lose sight of the journey! Having the will to start is the most successful part of the journey! You’d be surprised how many times incredibly, talented people stand in their own way of success because they’re afraid to start! This is something recently I have allowed myself to accept. I had to learn to understand that you can always fix or improve on something as long as there is something to improve on!
And lastly the need to express who you are feeds the soul. It frees you from any restrictions that society consciously and subconsciously instills into us especially in this social media driven day and age. Expressing who you are allows you to learn more about yourself in the process. Allowing you to explore your likes and dislikes, your insecurities and strengths! To express yourself is to build an everlasting self romance that gets better and better with time!
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth this year is trusting others with my career! Accepting to release control and allowing others to play important roles in my journey has been very challenging yet rewarding because it allows me to focus more on my most authentic self! This has been such a huge improvement because I used to be so skeptical and untrusting (for right reasons) which lead me to do everything myself. I was managing, doing all of my marketing, promotions and creative directing; on top of writing, mixing and mastering my own music! I’ve learned that it’s so important to establish a trusting team if you want to reach the highest levels of success and this year has been a turning point in my comfortability to allow others in.
