We recently connected with Sean Conner and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my grandmother, Marlene Langston.
I spent my Saturday mornings with her, either scouring newspapers for the best garage sales or setting up our own makeshift store on the front lawn.
Those days taught me how to haggle, spot value in products, and handle people with confidence.
My grandmother owned her own store while working a full-time job, and now, even in retirement, she mentors small businesses.
Those moments shaped my approach to work and taught me that dedication and resourcefulness go hand in hand.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is “Kinky Links,” a mobile gaming app and game show for adults.
It started during the pandemic when I hosted virtual game nights with friends, which sparked the idea for a fresh take on game night. “Kinky Links” creates connections through playful, steamy challenges, offering a fun and immersive experience.
The game show version will premiere on Amazon Prime and Tubi on Valentine’s Day 2025, featuring influencers competing to be crowned the Kinky King & Queen.
As a comedian and creator, my journey began in stand-up, performing at top LA venues.
After breaking my leg, I explored other creative outlets like animation and app development, leading to “Kinky Links.”
This project is special to me because it combines my love for entertainment and bringing people together.
Whether on stage or developing apps, my passion is creating joy and meaningful connections.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Resilience: Comedy and entertainment come with constant rejection and setbacks. After breaking my leg, I had to stay motivated and find new ways to thrive. Resilience means pushing forward even when things get tough.
2. Creativity: This allowed me to pivot from stand-up to creating something like “Kinky Links,” turning ideas into reality. Creativity isn’t limited to one medium; explore different outlets and see where your ideas take you.
3. Adaptability: In a changing industry, being adaptable is key. You have to adjust to new platforms, trends, and circumstances.
My advice is to embrace failures as learning moments, keep developing new skills that excite you, and be open to opportunities you didn’t initially consider. Keep pushing your boundaries, and your path will evolve.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I value learning from those who’ve been in the trenches – whether it’s crafting perfect punchlines or shipping successful apps.
The true gems in any industry are those willing to share their hard-earned wisdom, including the failures that shaped their success.
I’m particularly drawn to people who understand that real growth comes from both experience and the willingness to learn from others.
If you’re someone who’s built something meaningful and believes in passing knowledge forward, let’s connect and create something impactful together.
