We recently connected with Kristy Squire and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristy, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My family is from humble beginnings. I watched my parents work incredibly hard to provide for my three siblings and I as they had married young and began a family. No matter how hard it may have been they started their day early in the morning, worked a full day at work and still managed to volunteer to coach our soccer teams and see to all of our needs. There were times I know we barely scraped by yet my parents did not give up on themselves. In my childhood I watched my Mom go back to school to finish her diploma and go on to attend nursing school. I saw my Dad grow from working on roofs to working for companies estimating large roofing jobs and managing others. There was no shortage of drive or effort. While these efforts may not have kept them together, witnessing their hard work instilled in me a strong work ethic and a desire to always want more for myself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
After graduating college with my BA in Communication, I began working in sales and marketing. I later moved on to achieve my MBA while beginning my ISR business. What I took from my MBA which was really supposed to help me climb the “corporate ladder” was the confidence that I can run my own business and be able to arm myself with the tools I need to succeed.
I absolutely love working with my little students and their parents to aid in the eradication of childhood drowning. I surely didn’t see this being my path as a young college student but I couldn’t be happier with the direction I have been able to take. Becoming a Mom put me here and I am ecstatic to get to use my acquired skills from my education and training to help others.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
A strong work ethic, great communication skills, and perseverance have helped me to pave my road. My advice to anyone starting out a business would be to ask lots of questions to those that came before you, don’t think you can ever know too much, and always keep striving to do and be better.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I absolutely love meeting people in like-minded businesses. Those that are in the safety industry or anything involving children and young families are people I love to get in contact with. We can grow through each other. Be it a Pediatrician, a Doula, someone that runs a Parent and Tot class, or that is a Community Helper like an Elementary School Teacher- we are all looking to make child’s lives better and help them thrive.
