Meet Tammy J Cohen

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tammy J Cohen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tammy J , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Finding my purpose in life came a bit later to me. I started a business in 2007 and worked with clients in the gem and jewelry space. It wasn’t until the pandemic shutdown that I began to look at myself and realized that I was not happy. I realized that I had negative thoughts and saboteurs that played a significant role in how I judged myself, my circumstances, and others. I started a journey of self-discovery. I worked with coaches, immersed myself in programs, masterminds, and courses, and read many books. During that time, I realized that I wanted to change the direction of my life and begin new things. I started two life-changing projects simultaneously. The first was changing the conversation with my sons and finding a more profound way to communicate and connect with them deeply by using the same technology that causes the opposite on many levels. I built a habit of daily texting my sons my love, gratitude, inspiration, accountability, and shared wisdom. I wanted them to know how much I loved them and everything I was learning. What started as a daily text became a book called Text Messages To My Sons: Connecting Deeply In A World of Devices, which I self-published in 2023. Due to the interest and appeal of the book, I am now working on a second edition with publishers due out 2nd Quarter 2025. My mission and purpose is to get parents to message their kids daily and to get people to message love, inspiration, and gratitude to their loved ones. My second project was starting a women’s business network called Women Beyond the Table. We are a community dedicated to accelerating professional success and personal growth. We are a global business network with a soul. I have made amazing friendships and connections because of this work; community building is part of my purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I do several different things. I founded Tammy Cohen Marketing and Consulting in 2007, which transitioned into TC Brand Consulting in 2022. I work with gem and jewelry businesses to assist with their brand messaging. I work with fine jewelry quality manufacturers, connect them with clients, and establish their brand’s valuation with global credentialed gem and jewelry appraisers. I also own Eighteen Restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Eighteen is a Glatt Kosher restaurant that has been open since May 2010 and serves the community. The atmosphere is warm, the food is delicious, the home-style cooking, the service is friendly, and the experience is fantastic. It is no easy feat being open in Manhattan for over 14 1/2 years, and add in the pandemic; it is a miracle. I thank my husband for putting his heart and soul into it and running this business daily. Women Beyond the Table, the business network I founded, has many moving parts. I am fortunate to have a fantastic co-chair, Meg King, and two outstanding part-time employees. WBTT is nonstop and entering its fifth year of existence. We offer our members services and resources while collaborating with other women’s networks to grow and provide more, such as in-person events. To learn more, visit www.womenbeyondthetable.com

I am excited to work on an expanded Text Messages To My Sons edition, to be published in the second quarter of 2025. Both editions are written in text message format, making the book very easy to read. The first edition contains the texts from 2021 and 2022 in 10 chapters; the second edition includes the messages of 2021 and 2022 plus the messages of 2023 and 2024 in 11 chapters, chapter introductions, new covers, and a new introduction. Text Messages to My Sons is my calling and mission in life. Look out for sales funnel development and course offerings that work with the book in 2025. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1) Invest in yourself and your family
2) The ability to see the big picture.
3) The belief that you have to take one step. You do not have to know every step. That motivation comes after you take the first step. After the first step, the second step will show itself.
4) Failure is not bad; it is something you must go through to learn. Life is a road. Some parts of the road are straight and smooth, and others are filled with potholes and disrepair. There are many exits along the way, and we do not know why we are taking these exits and why we have to cross a particular bridge.
5) Look at a challenging experience and turn it into a gift.
6) Take Shirzad Chamins PQ ( Positive Intelligence Course)!

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

My biggest challenge is a scarcity belief: insufficient resources, time, or money. I worry about how I will accomplish this or that. Through PQ training, I have learned that this lack is just a saboteur speaking in my mind. I must trust in myself and think differently, and the resources will become available. I have found a flow and faith that God is around me to continue forward. I remember reading Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Successful People” about your Circle of Influence and Circle of Concern. I have been super fortunate to surround myself with a great circle of influence. I did not always have a solid Circle of Influence, but over time, I learned to discontinue relationships that were not good for me and find relationships that were two-way and nourishing. The circle of influence is something that we do have control over. The circle of concern is a different story. It consists of events – such as government, global issues, etc.- that are not in your control. I am Jewish, and the events of October 7th deeply affected me, my family, and our community. It has affected the world, and the amount of hate, violence, misinformation, indoctrination, and progranda that is swirling around us has been arduous and a challenge to mental health. Add in the economy and other government mismanagement, and it has been a shit show. I have found the best way to resolve this is to tune out the negativity, avoid the media, go deep, and have faith. I pray regularly, and my spirituality has increased tremendously. I feel more connected than ever before. Over this past year, I understood my mission in life and why I am here through publishing Text Messages To My Sons. Now, I am taking on my mission to the next level by publishing an upcoming expanded edition. It is about messaging love, gratitude, inspiration, accountability, and true wisdom. Love and gratitude are the highest energy-vibrating frequencies on the planet. Hate, anger, fear, and violence are the lowest vibrating energies. We can heal the world by simply and consistently messaging higher vibrating energy to people we love and care about.
