Meet Jason Innocent

We recently connected with Jason Innocent and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I learned my strong work ethic from my hardworking parents, who worked long hours. Their dedication greatly influenced my values and habits.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am currently responsible for the in-room dining operations at the Surrey Hotel. Established in 1926, this prestigious hotel has been a fascinating opportunity for me. Before this position, I had the honor of working at the Pierre Hotel, where I gained valuable experience working alongside exceptional leaders and refining my skills. My ultimate goal is to become the General Manager of a five-star establishment. I am fully aware of the hard work and dedication required to achieve this goal and am committed to the journey ahead.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Effective communication, adaptability, and teamwork are essential qualities and skills for success in the hospitality industry. The ability to convey information clearly and listen actively is crucial for exceptional guest service. Additionally, being flexible and open to new ideas is vital in an ever-evolving environment. Furthermore, collaborating effectively with colleagues and fostering positive relationships within a team greatly enhances overall guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, I have experienced significant growth in embracing and accepting my staff for who they are. I have made it a priority to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. This approach has not only boosted team morale but also fostered open communication and collaboration. By appreciating my colleagues’ unique strengths and perspectives, I have been able to lead more effectively and promote a culture of trust and empowerment within the team. This growth has strengthened my belief that diversity and authenticity are crucial drivers of success in a professional work environment.
