Eboni, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

Honestly, I get the resilience from my mother. I watched her grow up, be very strong and independent.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I would say the three most impactful qualities and skills in my journey have been resilience, financial literacy, and relationship-building.These were the foundation of building a successful tax business and have proven invaluable in sustaining long-term growth.

1. Resilience: The entrepreneurial journey is full of challenges, from navigating complex tax regulations to running a business. Being able to push through setbacks, whether financial or operational, was key to my success. For anyone early in their journey, I recommend focusing on mental toughness. Embrace failure as part of the learning process, and use each obstacle as an opportunity to grow.

2. Financial Literacy: Understanding how money works—from cash flow management to tax implications—has been a game-changer. This knowledge allows me to not only run my own business efficiently but also empower my clients. For those just starting, it’s crucial to invest in learning the financial side of business. Whether through formal education or self-study, mastering the basics of financial management will set you apart.

3. Relationship-Building: Business is built on trust, and the ability to build and nurture relationships has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. This includes both client relationships and partnerships within the industry. For those beginning their journey, networking is essential. Focus on building authentic, long-term relationships with mentors, peers, and clients. The connections you make will often open doors you didn’t even know existed.

For those starting out, I’d advise focusing on personal growth just as much as business skills. Developing resilience, financial literacy, and strong relationships will create a solid foundation for long-term success. Keep learning, stay persistent, and be open to evolving along the way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We are always open to partnering with tax professionals, accountants, financial educators, entrepreneurs, and technology providers who are passionate about helping businesses grow and succeed. Whether you’re looking to collaborate on training, financial education, or innovative tools for the tax industry, we’d love to connect.
