We were lucky to catch up with Marc Abrams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marc, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
Athletics
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Susan and I are building PedalYard
PedalYard was and is being created not only to provide a safe place and guidance to learn how to ride a bike…but…it’s much more. We’re building a parenting program with the purpose of building better families. At PedalYard the parent ALWAYS does the teaching. Our coaches are there to offer encouragement, guidance, and to keep everyone safe. The interesting part of this is that our research as well as our practical experience has shown that by a parent teaching their child to ride a bike…”hands-on”…they have a closer relationship for years to come. Much better communication and family bonding. With all the problems existing today Susan and I feel that one way to a better future is through better families. PedalYard is our effort to build better families.
We’re a portable “Pop-Up” event concept targeting 2-6 year old kids and their families. PedalYard actually works with all ages and special populations, but our core is young families and their children. We appear in communities, resorts, schools, parks, malls, restaurants, auto dealers, and other retail concepts. We fit almost anywhere there are 2-6 year olds and their families…Inside or outside.
Open every weekend throughout South Florida and Orlando. Visit www.pedalyard.com/visit-a-location for events happening this month.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Winners never quit and quitters never win. Not sure who that quote originated with but that says it all. No matter the set- backs or the mountains in front of you just keep going and take one step at a time. Things very rarely turn out as good as you hope or as bad as you fear so just push forward and watch what happens. You” usually accomplish your goals.
Be confident, but make sure you know what you’re speaking about.
Always be learning and utilizing your unique skill set. Strive for
Realize that it is a journey, and it probably won’t be linear unless you are in some type of cookie cutter business.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Celestine Prophecy has actually had a hand in everything business wise for over 40 years. While the book itself may not be the greatest literary treat the core concepts, if you can understand them, can have a profound impact on your life.
It’s not really fair for me to impact anyone’s journey so I’ll just say that there are no such things as coincidences. They really are opportunities to act on something. A chance meeting. Thinking about something and it is occurring. A friend checking in after a bit of time and you were just thinking about them. Something drives these actions, but not coincidence.
