Meet Gladys Stocks

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gladys Stocks. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gladys below.

Gladys, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by allowing new ideas to flow freely. I have always loved creating and so coming up with products brings me a sense of accomplishment!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Gladys and I am the owner of Just Love Self, a brand designed to encourage women of all ages to unapologetically love themselves. I want people to look at my brand and know that every piece was created with the everyday woman in mind. It’s for the mom who is running from here to there taking care of her children, or the women who loves the idea of showing off her love for self. All of my items are either handmade or hand designed, and I recently relaunched my website because I wasn’t in love with the first one I released back in March. I work a full time job for now until my business really grows, and so I usually only have one Saturday off per month to participate in pop-up events and things of that nature!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Persistence, faith and confidence in myself have been the most impactful qualities in my business journey thus far. Without these skills I would have given up a long time ago. I also always remind myself that my sons are watching me, and as a single mom it’s my judge to show them you can overcome anything life throws at you. My advise for any new business owner is too seek out a mentor who is successful and ask them how they got there!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been my confidence. When I first started thinking about releasing my first book last year, I was terrified of what people would think or say. I had to remind myself that people are going to talk no matter what, so you might as well give them something to talk about!
