Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tyheem (Ty Cash) Barnes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tyheem (TY CASH), looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I draw my work ethic from my family’s strong dancing background. Growing up, I watched and seen footage of my Father and Uncle who are twin brothers street performers perform with artist like Alicia Keys, Michael Bublé, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson. Attending their shows was a transformative experience for me; the flashing lights and the roar of the crowd inspired me to pursue dance myself. I vividly remember feeling a deep yarning in my heart to achieve that kind of recognition one day. As I grew older and began performing, my passion for dance intensified, reinforcing the importance of dedication in my journey.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Ty Cash, I’m from The Bronx, New York, I am the CEO of Gift Of Dance. Gift Of Dance isn’t just a clothing brand it’s also an organization I plan to start to help inspire the youth to use dance as a form of therapy and to channel their higher self. I’ve been dancing since the age of 4 years old starting from performing in Washington Square Park with my Father and his twin brother. With time passing it’s no surprise my moves has led me to massive platforms such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Disney Channel, Kids Foot Locker and has given me the opportunity to perform with many well known artist. Dancing has always been a passion of mines, I was able to join dance teams like Shake Nation that has made me become recognized by the world. Being apart of Shake Nation, I worked with Ron Browz with making music which has made me become a Musical Artist. My first single “Famous” (feat. Ron Browz) was my debut single, followed by more music “Calm Body” (feat. Ron Browz) & “Up Down” – Shake Nation (feat. Jo Kenzo, Ty Cash, and K.Bayla). I never knew creating music would be something I’m interested in until trying it out. My most recent song created and now streaming on all platforms is “G.O.D” by Ty Cash.
While juggling my work life I’ve also managed time for school as I’m a recent graduate of High School and currently a college student majoring in Digital Marketing.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My three most important qualities are my professionalism, being out spoken, and being hard working.
My advice to folks who are early in their journey is to stay focused on your passion and never let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything in this world. As long as you put your mind to it, you can achieve it.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months has been me graduating high school and going on to college. Being first generation to start and show my younger family members that it can be done and guiding them in the right way. I make sure to keep my foot on the gas and never let go. My success continues to gain larger and there is no stop limit to it.
