Meet Amanda Mcknight

We recently connected with Amanda Mcknight and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

Every single day I make a conscious effort to find something remarkable about the world around me, no matter how small. The little joys in life are what keep me going and remind me that life is much more often good than bad. Things like a phone call with my dad, a hug from my husband, seeing a beautiful sunrise, making my friends laugh, all those little things help ground me when life gets tough. I remember hearing a quote once that said “You grow through what you go through.” I think about that all the time and it’s a wonderful reminder that no matter what you go through in life, you will gain something from those experiences.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a voice actress and a singer! I have lent my voice to a wide variety of projects including audiobooks, video games, animation, and more! Full length audiobooks have been my most ambitious projects to date and I currently have two audiobook narrations in the works: “Hours of Light” by V.F. Molloy and “The Truth in Their Blood–The Progeny of Devils Book One” by Viktor Bloodstone. I absolutely love narration work and I always have such a blast whenever I get to do character voices. I love every single aspect of voice acting and am so grateful for the work I get to do.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Patience, resilience, and positivity. It’s so important when starting any new endeavor to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and all good things take time and patience! Resilience is key in any creative endeavor because you will always face rejection and adversity and being able to work through those things constructively and rationally is key to long term success. Staying positive is what keeps things fun! It’s easy to get frustrated when a project or career isn’t going exactly the way you planned, but looking at the bright side and remembering to have fun with what you’re doing will always serve you well.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I have a few strategies that help me get through it. First off, I seek comfort and guidance from the people I love. My husband, my family, my friends, they all have unique perspectives and experiences that can give me guidance and support with a situation that I couldn’t have come up with on my own. Secondly, I make a point to trust in myself that I will get through any situation if I put my mind to it. I call it relying on “Future Amanda” to take care of things. This doesn’t mean I just put things off and hope it works out, it means I’m trusting in myself to do the work and overcome the challenge because I have experience doing so and have faith in myself. You’ve got this!
