Meet Shaaree Mccalpine

We were lucky to catch up with Shaaree Mccalpine recently and have shared our conversation below.

Shaaree, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I believe that purpose found me, I tried so many careers and jobs, from the standpoint of glamarousing a career that unbeknownst to me would need support as well as money of which I had neither. As well as taking positions out of necessity. I needed a job to provide for self and family. I found my purpose, by what seemed to be from lost. I had a breakdown from mental health illness (depression, stress, overwhelm and anxiety). I also lost my full time job and had to find a job quickly, I ended up having an improtu meeting with a man, looking for facilitators to work with schools teaching conflict resolution. This lead me to a love of children and there well being thrusting me into a career in School Counseling and Mental Health Therapy.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Hmmm lets see reflection time: I believe having a foundation of competency that you can build on is key. Developing a sense of self awareness and authentic and a genuine sense of gentleness, care and compassion have been must impactful.
For people who are new please understand that you wont have all the answers, things unfold generically and that you build in this. Also do find a community to help and support you. This profession is hard mentally and you need a way to download. Do forget to continuously train and have funnnnnnn.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Right now I am looking for collaboration and donors . In this season there is a great need for people to have help and support when they cant reach out and do not know what to say. Im developing an app to combat this. I understand now that people need a pocket me until they can get on the couch. Im looking for a financial partners to pay for the development of the app.
