Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adrianna Jaramillo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Adrianna, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My father is a first generation immigrant. He was born in Ecuador but my grandparents brought him to the US when we was very young. He is the oldest of four and the first to learn English. When I was young I never understood the gravity of the sacrifices both my grandparents and dad had to make not only to come to the US but to start their lives, careers, and education from scratch. Watching them work hard every single day to provide better opportunities for their families instilled discipline and motivation in me. They’re a reminder to me every day that if you work hard you can achieve anything you want in life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a professional makeup artist based in New York City, originally from Illinois. I graduated from Makeup First School of Makeup Artistry in Chicago and am a certified makeup artist with over seven years of experience in the beauty industry. My expertise spans a variety of makeup styles, including bridal, editorial, fashion/runway, and theatrical makeup.
After honing my skills as a freelance artist in both Chicago and New York, I founded Ageless Artistry LLC in January 2022—a bridal-focused beauty business dedicated to creating flawless, long-lasting looks for brides on their most special day.
My passion lies in enhancing my clients’ natural beauty and boosting their confidence. I find immense joy in seeing the reactions of my brides and bridal parties when they see themselves completed and glowing. At Ageless Artistry, every look is designed with a commitment to detail, elegance, and timelessness.
Now serving brides across New York City and beyond, my team and I at Ageless Artistry are always excited to bring glamour and confidence to each new couple’s wedding day.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the best three qualities or skills that have been most impactful to my career are my work ethic, discipline, and having a love for what I do. There will always be days when you want to quit but these three things have helped me keep going!
The best way to improve your work ethic and discipline are to set small goals for yourself. They can be just for the day or for the week. Give yourself things that you want to complete or achieve and then continue doing that until it becomes habit.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I first started my bridal business I thought I had to take on every single job and could not say no to anyone. That quickly led me to burnout and struggling to complete a wedding season. Now I know to only take on what I can handle and finding my ideal clients to work with. Take a break! It’s so important to give yourself time to decompress and just relax. It truly helps who you are in your career and allows you to show up as your best self and do your best work. If you’re working multiple days in a row maybe say no that job that’s being requested at the end. Life is truly about balance. Take days to spend time with your loved ones.
