Meet Amber Budzynski

We were lucky to catch up with Amber Budzynski recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from faith, family, and an attitude of gratitude. I am a mother of 6 wonderful kids, a military spouse, a volunteer with numerous organizations. I homeschool, and well wear many hats. I always get asked how do you manage it all, do it all? Balance is very important to me. If I don’t have balance with my priorities then that’s when I have a shift in my attitude. When I put what matters most first, then I’m much more optimistic about many things that come my way, and life in general.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I love creating all kinds of things! That’s how my business actually started, my love for arts and crafts. My husband jokingly was like, “Maybe you can start selling some of your creations to at least earn a little toward all the crafting supplies you purchase.” I’ve made so many different things, but have focused more on accessories, specifically hair accessories. When we were stationed in Georgia, I learned that it was all about bows in the south and I loved it! I had my daughters wearing the biggest bows. I started to get pretty creative with the bows I made and then other fun hair accessories. I loved and still love creating items specifically for my daughters. So that’s how I honed into what I wanted to focus on with my business and what I enjoy making. Even though I’m the main maker, it really is a family business. I’m always asking for my daughters’ opinions on things I’m making, or my other kiddos help with packaging, or setting up for local vendor events, and in so many other ways my family contributes. That’s why our business is named Bud Fam Co. since it’s a family effort, Currently I’ve been creating all the things for our Christmas drop! I’m so excited for that! And prepping for some local market events. We are always busy here at Bud Fam Co. and always trying to have new items each launch!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Firstly I’d say love what you do. Crafting is my “me time”, my hobby in general. So the fact that I get to have a business out of what I enjoy doing for fun is great! If I ever didn’t enjoy what I was doing I’d quit. Secondly, prioritize your life. While my business is great, it comes second to my family and faith. And last but not least be yourself! There may be others that do or make the same things as you, but there’s only one you!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Aside from God, my husband is my rock and has helped me overcome challenges and gives me great advice. He actually does have his business degree so he is super insightful and knowledgeable when it comes to numbers and the actual business side of Bud Fam Co, He helps me in so many ways, and since day one has been my number one cheerleader and supporter. Aside from my husband’s insight, I have asked other business owners that I’ve become friends with for advice in different aspects and it truly is helpful. I’ve learned a lot with time, and Google. Always ask questions because that’s how you learn, grow, and in turn become more successful,
