Meet Chloe Bardos

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chloe Bardos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic was shaped by a combination of intense childhood experiences and high expectations. Growing up in a strict household, there was no option but to finish everything I started, and that taught me discipline early on. I have always been reliable and dependable and someone who keeps my word. Playing four extracurricular sports, on top of every single sport at high school, taught me how to be a teammate and to work hard for what I want. I love the quote “hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard” and I find that statement so so true, and have always related to it. I was never the most talented person in the room, but I was always going to make sure I was the hardest working/ most organized person in the room. Juggling 5-6 sports per season, taught me how to be productive and strategic with my time. As I got older, juggling three to four jobs for years, pushed my time-management skills to the limit. I believe that my strong and dedicated work ethic created some incredible opportunities for me, like dancing in Paris at the Moulin Rouge. In my thirties, I still work two jobs and as hard as ever, but have learnt good ways to prioritize what’s important, and show up for the company and my clients, as best as I can, any opportunity I get. I’ve always observed and learned from people who are better than me and tried to apply what I learn from them to the situations at hand. My commitment has always been to see things through and to do them with excellence. I’m proud of the work ethic I’ve built over the years—it’s one of my biggest strengths. Growing up with the understanding that finishing everything you start is non-negotiable taught me to approach every challenge with commitment. Playing multiple sports, holding down four jobs at a time, and eventually turning my love for movement into a career as a professional dancer and then fitness instructor has reinforced my drive. Recently being promoted to Chief Instructor is a testament to that dedication, and I’m excited to keep setting an example and pushing forward. I truly believe that hard work, focus, and resilience are what create the best results, and it’s my mission to live by those principles every day.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As a personal trainer and fitness instructor, I dedicate myself to helping others unlock their full potential in the gym and beyond. I’m passionate about making fitness accessible and empowering for everyone, especially beginners who might feel overwhelmed or intimidated by the gym. My focus is on creating programs and guidance that make people feel confident and strong from the start.

What excites me the most is seeing people transform through fitness. Seeing clients overcome obstacles, grow in confidence, and redefine their relationship with their bodies is incredibly fulfilling. My work is about instilling discipline and perseverance, traits that I developed myself through years of sports, dancing, and balancing multiple jobs. I understand the power of consistency, and I aim to help clients develop that same strength.

If anyone wants to find me, I create online monthly programs for clients of all levels, so if anyone is interested in training with me they can reach out on IG @chloebar! You can also find me teaching daily classes at the Barry’s Bootcamp studio in Vancouver, Canada.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, three qualities stand out as the most impactful: resilience, adaptability, and dedication to personal growth.

Resilience

Early on, I learned the importance of resilience, both mentally and physically. Juggling work, sports, and dance was exhausting, but it taught me to keep pushing even when things got tough. For anyone starting their journey, I recommend building resilience through small, consistent challenges. Whether it’s committing to an early morning workout or setting a goal that scares you a bit, practicing resilience in these ways helps you to keep going when things get hard. Reading the book “GRIT” by Angela Duckworth is also something I suggest!

Adaptability

Fitness, like life, is ever-changing, and being adaptable has allowed me to thrive even when things didn’t go as planned. For new trainers or those entering any industry, I’d say: stay open-minded. Learn from different sources (learn from EVERYONE), don’t think you’re better than anyone, explore multiple training styles (!!!!) and be knowledgeable in them even if it’s not something you practice often, this makes you understand and relate to your clients and athletes better, and accept that you won’t always have a straight path. This flexibility will serve you well, both in your career and in working with a wide range of clients.

Dedication to Personal Growth

Personal growth has been essential in every aspect of my work. Spending the last few years working on myself in therapy has changed my life and definitely helped me out career wise. It has made me appreciate the value of staying open to learning and continuously refining my craft. For anyone starting out, my advice is to be a constant learner—take courses, seek mentors, and make space for self-reflection. Progress isn’t just about skill; it’s about your mindset and your drive to keep evolving.
Developing these traits takes time, but staying consistent and viewing each day as an opportunity to build on them will set you on a strong path forward.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My therapist and the experience of being in therapy have truly been life-changing. I was never able to afford therapy and I wish I had started when I was a kid. As soon as it became something I could afford, I started as soon asap. Therapy has helped me unpack and understand my past and how it has shaped my work ethic, resilience, and drive. It’s given me tools to process challenges, handle stress, and manage self-doubt in ways I couldn’t have done alone. I used to be ashamed to as for help, I still have a hard time asking anyone else but my therapist for help BUT having someone to guide me through life’s challenges and has allowed me to understand my patterns, is so valuable to me. Now, I focus not only on physical growth but also on nurturing a healthy mindset. I genuinely believe that anyone, especially those pursuing high-performance goals, can benefit greatly from having a safe space to explore their personal journey.
