Meet Dan Spiffy Neuman

We were lucky to catch up with Dan Spiffy Neuman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dan Spiffy, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I hope I’m still finding it. I grew up with parents and mentors who worked every day to make the world a better place, and always thought about others and the future of the planet. Those things have always been forefront in my mind.

Early on I realized I wouldnt succeed in a conventional environment and decided to make my interests and hobbies my career. Those things have shifted over the years, but never changed. I put as much time and effort into the things I care about. At any given time, some will work better than others. I backburner the ones that arent working at that time and focus on the ones that are.

Lastly, I have to credit my faith, I do believe God specifically called me to do many if not all of the things I am doing.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a working musician, both sessions, gigs, tours, and church.

I have an active YouTube channel that encompasses music, ceiling fans, lighting, technology, new products, politics, and social issues. I am also on most other social media sites.

I am always looking to network, grow my brand, and help others!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Networking is the most important skill anyone can have. You can be a great musician, but if no one knows you, and no one wants to work with you, you’ll be a great musician by yourself

2. Listening. Prince once said “Listen more than you play. Be more interested in what your neighbor is doing than what you’re doing.” That applies literally to music but also to everything in life.

3. Be focused on how you can make the world a better place.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

The first thing I do when I am overwhelmed is make a to-do list. Often times we will have more that we need to accomplish in a day, than will fit in a week. But it can be broken down into smaller, manageable tasks. Make a list, then start accomplishing small practical things on that list. You still might be very behind but you wont feel as overwhelmed.
