We were lucky to catch up with Erika Pozo Fiorilo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Erika , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I grew up in Bolivia, where I witnessed a lot of poverty and saw many people in need. As a child, I remember my parents actively looking for ways to help, whether through providing food or clothing for families and children in need. They, along with my grandparents, set a strong example, showing me that helping others was something you did without hesitation.
As a teenager, I began volunteering at an orphanage, helping care for babies and spending time with young children. Witnessing firsthand how dedicating your time can positively impact others was deeply meaningful to me. Recently, Gary Keller reminded us that our giving can have an even larger impact if we find ways to involve others. Inspired by this, I’m currently running a food drive for the Central Texas Food Bank and have invited neighbors and friends to participate. I’ve found that many people are willing to support a cause if it’s accessible to them or if they see an opportunity to help they didn’t know was possible.
Remember how I mentioned volunteering at an orphanage in Bolivia? Now that I live in the U.S., I’ve found a way to continue supporting orphanages back home. I partnered with Creamos in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and am preparing to host my second fundraiser to purchase educational books, games, baby formula, and other supplies. Being a realtor with Keller Williams gives me the platform and network to extend my reach, making it even easier to rally support for causes that matter to me!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
In the real estate world, I’ve built a brand deeply rooted in empathy, community, and empowerment, stemming from my own life journey. Born and raised in Bolivia, I moved to Texas at sixteen, navigating the challenges of a new country, culture, and language. This experience made me acutely aware of the support and understanding needed by those who, like me, take bold steps toward new beginnings.
Before becoming a realtor, I spent years working in education, supporting bilingual children and their families and providing mentorship to educators. This foundation has shaped my approach to real estate: I believe in creating trust, fostering transparency, and making homeownership accessible for all my clients, from first-time buyers to seasoned investors. My aim is to guide clients in building lasting generational wealth through real estate.
In my work with Keller Williams, I specialize in working with diverse clients, including those navigating the market with ITINs or people who may not have considered homeownership within reach. Whether my clients are buying, selling, or investing, I’m committed to providing guidance that is honest and tailored to their unique needs.
Beyond transactions, I firmly believe in giving back to the community and those in need. Currently, I’m leading a food drive for the Central Texas Food Bank and preparing a fundraiser for Creamos, an orphanage in Bolivia that is close to my heart. Real estate is an opportunity for me not just to help families find homes, but to foster community connections and encourage others to make a positive impact.
I invite anyone interested in buying or investing in Austin to connect with me. Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or a long-time investor, my goal is to support you in achieving your dreams while building a brighter future together.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, resilience, a commitment to service, and empathy have been the most impactful qualities in my journey.
Resilience
Growing up in Bolivia and moving alone to the U.S. as a teenager taught me the value of resilience. From adjusting to a new culture to building my career in education and real estate, resilience became the foundation that helped me face these challenges head-on. For anyone early in their journey, I’d say: embrace setbacks as learning opportunities. Push through moments of doubt, and remember that growth often happens when things feel toughest.
Commitment to Service
My years in education showed me the importance of serving others. This commitment has carried over to my work as a realtor, where I aim to make a meaningful impact, whether by helping clients realize their dreams of homeownership or by giving back through community initiatives. For those just starting, look for ways to add value to others’ lives. Find something you’re passionate about that can benefit others, and lean into it. This approach not only builds character but makes your work deeply fulfilling.
Empathy
Coming from an immigrant background and working in education taught me the importance of understanding and appreciating people’s unique journeys. Empathy has been a core value in my real estate work, where building trust and truly listening to clients is essential. I encourage anyone starting out to prioritize empathy by actively listening and learning about the stories of those around them. When you put others first, you’re not only building a career—you’re building relationships that can support and sustain you in ways you can’t anticipate.
These qualities—resilience, service, and empathy—have shaped my path and made my journey fulfilling, and I believe they can do the same for anyone who values them.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always open to meaningful collaborations that align with my mission of empowering individuals through real estate and community involvement. Whether it’s working with local businesses, community organizations, or other real estate professionals, I believe that when we join forces, we can create a larger, more positive impact.
Specifically, I’d love to connect with Latino-owned and female-owned businesses, as well as local nonprofits focused on housing access or community development. I’m particularly interested in professionals in finance, home improvement, or legal services who share a passion for supporting homeownership. I’m also looking to collaborate with others who value giving back, especially in projects like food drives or fundraising for causes close to my heart, such as educational resources for underprivileged communities in Bolivia.
If you’re interested in partnering or collaborating, please feel free to reach out! Connecting with like-minded people who are committed to making a difference is always exciting, and I’d love to explore ways we can work together to serve our community better.
