We were lucky to catch up with Victoria Horochowski recently and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from a deep belief in the law of attraction, which teaches me that what I focus on, I bring into my life. By practicing positive self-talk and always looking for the silver lining in any situation, I maintain a mindset that encourages growth and fulfillment. My feelings are a powerful signal from my inner self, showing me the nature and vibrational frequency of my thoughts and guiding me toward what I’m manifesting. The key is to focus on feeling good, knowing that when I feel good, I attract more experiences and things that reinforce positivity. By trusting in this law, staying optimistic—even in challenging times—feels natural, as I know I’m creating the life I envision through my thoughts and emotions.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a hair artist based in the heart of West Hollywood, where I specialize in custom cuts and colors for both men and women. My studio is a cozy, one-on-one space—a bit like a personal hair sanctuary—where each client has my full attention. It’s more than just a salon; it’s a place where clients have laughed, cried, and shared life’s highs and lows with me, and being there for them through it all is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Of course, creating beautiful, custom colors and cuts is my passion, but seeing people walk out feeling better about themselves than when they walked in is what makes it truly fulfilling. The vibe in my studio is inspired by Old Hollywood Tropicana, with a warm, vintage flair. Plus, I love to spoil my clients a bit with cocktails and snacks to make the experience even more special. I provide a high vibe hair care experience!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most impactful qualities on my journey have been an optimistic outlook, a strong work ethic, and an undeniable love for what I do. My optimism has been a guiding light, especially in tough situations, reminding me that there’s always a way forward, even when things seem overwhelming. I truly believe that a positive mindset brings in more opportunities and allows me to face challenges with resilience. My work ethic is something I owe to my Ukrainian immigrant parents, who taught me, by example, the power of perseverance. They moved our family through two countries before finally reaching the USA, working tirelessly every step of the way to build a better life for us. Their determination taught me that hard work is not just a job requirement; it’s a way of life, a value that shapes who I am and drives me every day. Finally, my passion for what I do is the fuel that keeps me going. I genuinely love the work I do with my clients, the creativity it allows, and the joy it brings to people’s lives. That passion is what gets me through long days and pushes me to constantly improve, making every day in this field something I’m grateful for. Together, these qualities have not only shaped my career but have also enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined.
For anyone early in their journey, my biggest piece of advice is to keep going and never give up, no matter how challenging things might seem. Remember, you belong here—you’re not an imposter. You have every right to occupy the space you wish to, and your unique perspective and talent are exactly what the world needs. Keep learning along the way; staying curious and up-to-date with the latest education and trends will not only keep you ahead of the game but also build your confidence in your work. Don’t be afraid to invest time in your growth, and always be open to new ideas. And perhaps most importantly, surround yourself with people who inspire you and who are a few steps ahead in the business. There’s so much wisdom to gain from those who have walked this path before you, and they can be an incredible source of knowledge, encouragement, and inspiration. Building these skills takes time and dedication, but with persistence and a positive mindset, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who feels like a soul-aligned friend, the kind of person I can truly vibe with and have a great time with. Since I often spend hours with clients—sometimes up to five!—it makes such a difference when we can have easy banter, share some laughs, and just enjoy the time together. I love working with people who are easygoing and lighthearted, and who aren’t afraid to open up or even say something a little controversial. It’s all about being comfortable in who you are and not being afraid to be yourself. Many of my clients tend to be creative types, but honestly, I’m open to anyone who brings a good vibe and is down for a fun, real connection. That positive, genuine energy is what makes every appointment something I look forward to.
