Meet Kindle Thompson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kindle Thompson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kindle , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

I think many people can describe generosity differently. I would describe it as being humble. Being a rising star in this industry, but still balancing my “normal life” to make a living defines my career.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a professional model and actress residing in Kansas City, Missouri. I have experience in Runway, Editorial, Print, Brand Shooting, and Commercial Work. I recently did the Halloween Fashion Show for Kansas City Fashion & Tonight and will be walking in my first show I produced called “Geek Gala”. My recent features include a campaign shown on Halsey’s makeup page (About-Face) and A brand shoot featured in Forbes. I am expanding to bigger markets (Nashville, Chicago, California, New York, and Texas) for starters. But Kansas City is my home and my turf.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Being Reliable
Being Humble
Being Original

My advice to those starting out in this. Industry is to always appreciate the opportunities you have and the people you work with. Never take anything for granted, and never get too full of yourself. That is how you lose this game, and any credibility you earned.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Take time to yourself but always keep moving. Don’t let your insecurities define you, and don’t let others bring you down. Be a role “model” for others. If someone falls on stage, you pick them up. If someone’s hair is out of place or their zipper is down during an editorial, tell them. If you see something, say something. We are here to collaborate and bring others up, not compete.
