We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alycia Medina Virtual Assistant a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Alycia Medina with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Work ethic gave me stability. Whether that was in the home, as a child or in the workplace. When you have only yourself to rely on yet have clear goals to succeed, it is natural to hone in your skillset in order to reach those goals.

The most special aspect of my work is conversing with the wide array of business owners that come through. I thoroughly enjoy hearing about their experiences; wins, losses and battles. And, of course, their stories behind starting their businesses and what their next goals are. Honestly, it’s a pick-me-up to hear these types of stories!
AMVS specializes in administrative and operational tasks. As an outsourced assistant, I give my clients fully customized options for when and how I support their businesses. I do this by leveraging my 11 years of experience in the corporate world and by handing clients deliverables. I currently work with all business and industry fields but am also currently studying to obtain my real estate license which will allow me to support further industries. Super exciting! So be on the lookout for that designation come Q2 of 2025!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The 3 qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey all had to do with being thrown into situations and working systematically to fix the issues: I came into every situation knowing that listening was key, identifying and prioritizing the issues was step 1 to creating a plan, and humility will open up the way to getting the rest of my team to collaborate. In hindsight, these 3 areas and skills were what gave me the confidence to keep excelling.
My best piece of advise when learning to improve upon your craft is to focus on collaboration by listening. Experience, even if it comes from others, is useful!
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I’ve spent lots of time analyzing my past and one thing I am consistently grateful for is that my parents were not ones to dwell on circumstance. This has taught me to be insightful in identifying and addressing problems as a business owner, a friend, a wife, a mother and as a citizen of the world.
