Meet Zakiya Holman

We recently connected with Zakiya Holman and have shared our conversation below.

Zakiya, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism in part is a function of learned behavior. My parents consciously cultivated an environment for optimism to flourish. My late mother’s very disposition was one of optimism. I witnessed her engage in shared problem solving with both my father and her heavenly father when challenges arose and never ever not even once heard her complain. I witnessed my father’s relentless work ethic and faithful actions daily. Both taught me that I could declare and decree the best expected possible outcome via employing faith and diligence. I also believe that the Creator endowed me with the ability to see the upside of circumstance. I believe that circumstance provide content and that enrichment is the context. When you filter experiences through the lens of enrichment you can interact with life differently and thereby go further into fulfillment with less effort.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am currently a clinical director at an agency that provides autism and behavioral services. Serving people with exceptional needs has been my career path and passion for nearly 25 years now. I am equally passionate about my debut book Streamline: Having the Audacity to Simplify Life’s Journey and about optimistically setting out to establish a sole proprietorship called Joint Venture to provide coaching and consulting to women who are invested in building their capacity and developing the spiritual capital needed to establish and maintain life congruence!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My words of advice are as follows:

1. Streamline your life by staying in integrity with your values, identity and purpose.
2. Become a process thinker whereby you focus on the present instead of past events or future outcomes assured that all your conscious doing , no matter how trivial it may seem, will indeed advance purpose.
3. See challenges for what they are, enrichment: enhanced and extended learning opportunities that provide greater depth, breadth, and beauty.
4. Stay the course!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am looking to partner and collaborate with persons in the new age spirituality, positive psychology and author/speaker space who are willing to share their expertise on scaling the message of Streamline which in a nutshell is an invitation to simplify life and maximize joy. There is an ancient African proverb that says if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together. Let’s embrace the spirit of collaboration and go far together!
