Daffne , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I definitely get my resillience from my parents. Growing up I’ve always seen my parents overcome countless obstacles and still find ways to accomplish their goals despite those bumps in the road. Through their example, I’ve learned to always adapt and recover from all of the curve balls life has hit me with. Career wise, my journey has been a rollercoaster filled with risk taking and being okay with constant change. If it wasn’t for my resilience, my business wouldnt be where it is today.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Licensed Cosmetologist in the hairstyling field specializing in Balayages and Blonding. I offer a range of services from something as simple as haircuts to more complex ones like color corrections, balayages, and baby lights.
The most special part about my career is definitely how human it is. I don’t only get the privilege of creating art and make people feel pretty and confident, but i also get to build special bonds with the people that sit in my chair. That is what makes my job so fulfilling. Life is tough and everyone is struggling one way or another. I am eternally grateful I get to create a safe space for my clients and lend them an ear.
For the month of November i will be running several specials in preparation for the holidays. Balayage services will be a flat rate of $265 with a free haircut and all over colors will be $100. I also offer Afterpay as a payment option. I’m always accepting new clients and eager to welcome new faces to my suite!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Ive definitely learned the importance of patience, dedication, and empathy. Patience is a virtue and my career journey required a lot of it. Success doesnt hapen overnight and as a small business owner I’ve learned that clientele growth takes time. If it wasn’t for my patience, I could’ve easily thrown in the towel early on in my career when I could barely get 1-2 clients in my chair per week. Then that’s when your dedication comes in. Building your clientele and promoting your business takes hustle and constant dedication. Your business is only as successful as you want it to be. However, I think the real key to success is the heart you put behind everything you do. Being an empathetic person is what has allowed me to make an impact on the clients that sit in my chair and build real connections with them. If it wasn’t for the continous support my clients fill me with, Hair By Daff wouldn’t be where it’s at today.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I am blessed with the best support system I could ever ask for. First and foremost, I put God in the center of everything I do and without him by my side, nothing would be possible. Additionally, the unconditional love and support my family and friends have shown me from the very beggining have allowed me to achieve my goals. They’ve believed in me even when i didn’t believe in myself and that’s something I will eternally be grateful for.
