Meet Tiffany Clark

We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Clark recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I would say it’s more so, how did I embrace my purpose.

Deep down in my soul since a young teen I knew I wanted to be an Interior Designer, I’ve always felt it, and I’ve always craved it. However, I didn’t quite believe it was possible. As a kid growing up I didn’t see any black Interior Designers out there. I watched HGTV all the time, literally bingeing all the episodes before I even knew what binge watching was. However, there were never any black designers on the shows, so it just didn’t seem like something I would do, or so my young mind thought. Then one day, a few years later, I remember seeing Egypt Sherrod on HGTV and I thought wow!! That could definitely be me! (There’s a detailed story from then to now.) See, I always knew I was suppose to be an Interior Designer, I knew that was my purpose but I didn’t know how to embrace it. It took years from then to now and it took me forming a true personal relationship with God to learn to embrace my purpose. I couldn’t fulfill and truly live in my purpose without embracing it, fully believing in myself and knowing I am enough, he gave me this purpose for a reason. Once I embraced my purpose I was able to quite my corporate job and live in my purpose. Now, I’m a young black successful Interior Designer who will be on the very show that got me deeply in love with interior design to start with. There’s not a single thing that can stop you when you are walking in your purpose using your gifts from God.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Tiffany Clark Interiors has been transforming spaces and coming up with new ways to recreate your favorite spots as well as providing each client with the space they truly need. Whether it’s designing a new office or a bathroom, I listen to each client in order to fully understand what they need, whether it is comfort, functionality, or a combination of both.

I absolutely love being able to wake up every single day, be my own boss and do exactly what I love to do! That is the true luxury of life. Having a “job” that doesn’t feel like work. Literally what used to be a fun hobby at one point in my life. It’s a true blessing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Patience, determination, and faith. Those are three qualities that are very impactful in my journey. Patience, you need to have patience because things don’t happen over night. It takes years of learning your craft, learning yourself and going through many trials and errors along the way. When things aren’t going the way you intend it could be for the very reason that, that’s not Gods plan. We have to be patient with his plan, not the one we made up in our heads. Determination, firmness of purpose. You have to be determined to indulge yourself in your craft, whatever it may be. You can’t give up no matter how hard it may get. If it were easy attainable everyone would be doing it. You’re going to hear more no’s in the beginning than anything but you have to be determined that those no’s will not stop you and only encourage you to push harder! Faith, you can’t have fear with faith. Give your fears to God, have faith that he knows best, trust him blindly to guide you correctly. Have faith that you are living and walking in your purpose and nothing can stop you!

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was allowing me to be creative and believing in me enough to let me makeover some spaces in our home when I was about 16 years old. As I stated I was obsessed with watching HGTV day and night. I was also obsessed with playing the computer game The SIMS, which allows you to build homes from ground up and design them. Now that I think about it, them buying me that game had a huge impact on my life with me falling in love with design. I would literally sit at the computer for hours on end just building and designing homes. They fist let me makeover the bathroom that my brothers and I shared, then the kitchen and then the living room. As family members and guests would come over they would compliment on how nice everything looked and some even had me do a few things in there home. That started my confidence and that when I knew I had a special gift just not how powerful it was.
