Meet Keren Banuelos

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Keren Banuelos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Keren, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

Everything I have let go of has claw marks left on it. I’d often wonder why the awful things happening to me were happening. I wondered why the universe kept throwing me around against my will, victimizing myself every step of the way. Everything started to shift when I realized it was happening for me, not to me. A little bit of gratitude can make all the difference in your life.

It was a pretty bad start to lose my technical job of almost 3 years and the stocks that came along with it. “Due to no fault in my performance or work ethic”. As incredibly angry as I was with the company, I didn’t fight it. I always felt the promises made by them were too good to be true, and that they would end up under-compensating.

I continued to pursue my career as a nail artist. Persisted, although it didn’t seem I was exactly what anyone was looking for at the moment. I was let go several times for differing causes, still, eventually I landed in the perfect environment for my career and my growth as an entrepreneur. I get to work with other creators helping them build their brands, and expressing themselves through their businesses. I’m grateful every day I get to make people happy through my art, whether it’s digitally drawn, or hand-painted on a healthy nail bed. Resilience is gained through the impactful experiences in our day to day lives that mold us to be who we are.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As a multimedia artist I’m always working on something new, from paper to paints, digital art, clays, jewelry, and hand painted artworks on tiny nail beds!

More so recently I’ve been enhancing my skills set as a digital artist, working with 3D sculpting, and programming for animations. On top of working with other Brands/creators to help them put together their Logo Concepts, Graphic prints, or any other Graphic Need that may come their way!

I’m also eager to share, I’ve working with the Marketing team at ‘The Beauty Shoppe’ to coordinate our first ever Press Ons – Pop Up Event! It will take place at the Downtown Las Vegas, Arts District • First Friday of December 6th! @heav3nlynails for more updates, and further details.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most impactful things in my journey have been keeping patience, gratitude, and resilience. I’m not sure I’m the most qualified person to advise on another journey, as that is truly unique to oneself.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always interested in connecting with other creatives to put together events and collaborations!
