We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jess Lamb a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jess, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Singing in the choir
Every song was ours
One voice
One heart
Everybody let go
The spirit took control
In all, in awe
I’m possessed
I’m anointed
I’m a vessel
I can feel you
I can see you
I can hear you
I open up
Let you in
Can’t get rid of it
Creeps out in to the crowd when I’m vibratin’
Gave up
Blood thin
I’m a zombie
Gave out
Luke warm
I’m cold
Lost that fire in my bones
Stand still
Can’t breathe
Crying on the floor
I just wanna be reborn
– Jess Lamb (Reborn- lyrics to the title track to be released on my upcoming album)
In my spiritual journey, I am ever changing, growing, aching, rejoicing. I find myself in that cocoon moment. Waiting to be happy. Waiting to be healed. Waiting to be reborn. Over and Over again. Creating and performing music has been the alchemy that prompts me to heal. My purpose is to create music for the soon to be butterflies. May I inspire you to spread your wings and fly.
I found my purpose by first realizing my highest passion. I always knew I loved music. I grew up singing in the church, lifting my voice in harmony with my friends and family. The purpose was worship. We knew we were all one. The purpose was to be uplifted and heal.
I am not religious these days. But I create music for the same reason- to empower my loved ones with frequencies and melodies.
My latest album, YOU ARE, reflects this purpose.
It includes mantras and meditation frequencies (which are mixed with binaural beats) and soothing tones.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Be present. Find ways to be present. Meditation and breathing techniques have helped me to achieve this.
2. Find your highest passion. Live in your highest passion. I believe it is everyone’s purpose, to live in their highest passion.
3. Collaborate. Create art with others. We shine brightest together.
Somewhere along the way
Somebody told you in would be too hard to live in your passion
To work your dream job
Be an astronaut, command the universe at the top of your lungs
All the world’s a stage
It’s really what you make of it
Unless you believe
You can’t survive without the matrix
– Jess Lamb (lyrics to my new single called we.are.shifting.demo.) Available on all streaming platforms.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I say aloud, all the things I am grateful for.
I breathe.
I allow my feelings to overflow onto the page.
I create my own frequency, a sanctuary, a place to escape the pain.
In these overwhelmed moments, I write my best songs.
Then, in some ways, I am thankful for my anxieties. Maybe these are our superpowers in disguise.
Those festering flames prompt us to dig deeper and face our truths.
