We recently connected with Neil Wachs and have shared our conversation below.
Neil, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My Parents. Was brought up to” never give up” and always remember “Things are meant to happen for a reason” Anytime something negative would happen to me I always thought there is a reason why and to move on.My only regret is my Parents aren’t alive to see my success.I know they would be proud. They are up there shaking their heads in disbelieve..lol..
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Iam new to acting.2 years since I started.I owned my own business for over 40 years and retired.I have lots of energy and dont play golf so I needed to find something to do ..I started by getting paid to watch game shows being filmed. Then I received an E Mail asking if I wanted to be an extra on TV shows and movies. Why not? After doing a few background jobs I found myself having lines, getting offers for jobs all the time.I had reinvented myself! I have worked with the biggest stars in Hollywood and its all surreal… I did one video for a YouTuber(Stokes twins) that received over 90 million views!I still get believe in what has been happening..
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Just like owning your business…you want your employees to be on time ..be prepared..and enjoy the process…
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I have met many actors on set and they are very helpful I was skeptical about actors and actresses and how they would be on set.Every actor/actress from the famous to the not so famous have been incredibly nice I have new friends and they have answered every question I asked about being in this industry.I am amazed how supportive everyone is.I watch what everyone is doing on set.I ask questions and I pay attention to everyone from the director to the actors.I try and learn every time Iam working.
