We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sandeep Asdhir a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandeep , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a mix of influences and personal practices that keep me grounded and motivated. First and foremost, I’ve constantly been inspired by watching my family work hard. To this day, my parents show me the power of perseverance, constantly pushing forward and embracing new challenges. There are many times when I visit my parents I find them to be awake and sleep after me. No complaints and doing the basics. Sometimes showing up is half the battle.
I also build resilience by simply trying things without focusing too much on the outcome, which has taught me not to be afraid of failure. Many times I hear people describe this feeling of ‘analysis-paralysis’ where they cannot get the motor starting. In those cases I would ascribe to be very pragmatic and break down the large daunting tasks into smaller bites.
Lastly, I have always tried to stepping outside my comfort zone, staying open-minded, and keeping a “student mentality”. These characteristics have kept me adaptable. Remember if something may have a negative outcome it can also have a positive one. Until you go through the entirety of the process and continue to reiterate you will never know.
Finally, seeing things through, even when the journey gets tough, has reinforced my resilience time and time again.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, there are three qualities that stand out when I was asked this question as the most impactful: resilience, communication, and integrity.
First, resilience has been essential. Starting something from scratch like a business or an endeavor can always brings challenging and full of mental setbacks. The early stages are particularly volatile, and there’s always a temptation to quit – sometimes you wonder if you should go back to employment and if you made the correct choice. Your mind will test your determination, but building up that mental fortitude is essential because you’re going to feel like you’re being punched in the face. For anyone just beginning, I’d suggest finding ways to stay grounded in your purpose and taking setbacks as learning opportunities rather than roadblocks. Remember your purpose, you may uncover new ones on your journey.
Second, communication and networking have always been invaluable. True communication is more than just speaking—it’s about being empathetic, actively listening, and understanding others (hint: take notes too). Building strong connections is essential in business, and those connections are built on genuine, two-way conversations. My advice here is to approach every interaction with an open mind and a willingness to listen. Strong networks aren’t built overnight; they’re nurtured over time through trust and mutual respect, remember we all start from zero.
Finally, integrity is foundational. Being high-character and sticking to your word is essential in any field, but especially in business. People need to know they can rely on you. I’ve found that maintaining my integrity—being honest, transparent, and true to my commitments—has been the cornerstone of building trust and long-term relationships that is even if you take a loss. For those just starting, I’d say remember that reputation is built on the actions you take every day. Stay true to your values, even when it’s challenging.
These three qualities—resilience, communication, and integrity—have helped shape my path and have been instrumental in both my personal and professional growth.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
One of the biggest challenges I’m facing is not always seeing the day-to-day progress, which can sometimes feel discouraging. It’s difficult to measure your own success and easy to become hyper critical when you don’t see tectonic plates shift. When you’re deeply committed to your goals, it’s easy to get caught up in what still needs to be done rather than recognizing how far you’ve already come. This mindset, coupled with the need to stay rigid with my to-do list, can make it tough to maintain momentum and avoid mental exhaustion.
To manage this, I’ve found it helpful to have someone to talk to—someone who can provide perspective, help me stay grounded, and remind me of the bigger picture. Having a trusted person such as a family member to offer feedback and encouragement makes a huge difference in staying on track and feeling positive about the journey, not just the destination.
