Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jay Heselschwerdt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jay, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Though time comes wisdom and with that wisdom comes the confidence and self-esteem to talk about and react with situations. If you are knowledgeable about a subject then you can speak with easy.. The more knowledge you have in the subject area and the related areas. They more natural your confidence comes.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I have had a great life and done so many incredibly fun things. Currently I am acting in the TV and Film industry and doing public speaking on honey bees. I am on about 20 different social media platforms around the world @thebeemanjay I have been in The Triple Nine Society, among many others. An quick list of jobs would be US Army, construction, grave digger, body guard, postal worker, IT, Programmer, test car driver, fireman, tactical arms instructor, homesteader, podcaster, cage fighter, body builder, writer, survival instructor to name a few. I still have some things I want to do before I get old.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As an introvert I watched people all my life to the point of almost studying human nature. You begin to understand why people do the things they do. If you can understand where someone’s coming from. You can appreciate their story and help them along the way for the rest of their life. One of my greatest joys in life is helping other people achieve their goals. If you spend more time helping others. You spend less time looking at the negatives of others. If you’re concentrating on one thing then it will increase. If you concentrate on the negatives then you will see more negatives in people and situations. If you start concentrating on the good then naturally we will start to see more good in life. Which will change your outlook on your life. So, love, learn, and forgive. Love yourself, learn everyday, and forgive yourself and others. We all fail at some point.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. If we try to stay within our safe areas we never have a chance to find out what else we can accomplish. Take it from me, that I assumed, I would stay in my hometown for my entire life when I was in highschool. Once I stepped out of my comfort zone, life became increasingly interesting. Learning one new thing lead me to be interested in something else. If you want to be better, then be better. If not, sit in front of the TV and watch me. If not, sit and scroll social media and watch me there. You can accomplish anything I have done and more. Nothing is impossible, nothing. It just has not happened yet.
