Meet Justin Jenkins

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Justin Jenkins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
As the only one in the room who looks like me, I’ve learned to embrace my uniqueness and use it to my advantage. I pay attention to my thoughts and ideas, and make sure to share them confidently and articulately. I also make an effort to connect with others in the room, whether it’s through small talk or finding common interests. It’s important to stay true to who I am while also being open to learning from others. Ultimately, being successful in these situations requires a combination of self-assurance, interpersonal skills, and cultural awareness.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello, I am a producer, artist, and spiritual leader, and I am delighted to share with you about my work. What I do is blend spirituality and creativity to inspire and uplift others. I believe that my art is a tool for healing and self-expression, allowing people to connect with themselves and those around them on a deeper level. The most exciting thing about what I do is seeing people transform through my music and teachings. My brand is all about spreading love and positive energy, and I am passionate about making a difference in people’s lives.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I think the three most impactful qualities in my journey were perseverance, adaptability, and a growth mindset. My advice for those early in their journey would be to focus on developing these qualities, as they will help you push through challenges, pivot when necessary, and continuously learn and improve. Cultivate a strong sense of determination and don’t let setbacks discourage you. Embrace change and be open to new experiences. And above all, believe in yourself and your ability to grow and succeed.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My mom, supporters and family have been the most helpful in helping me overcome challenges and develop essential skills. They have always been my biggest cheerleaders and have offered unwavering support and encouragement throughout my journey towards success. Their guidance, advice and constructive feedback have helped me to learn from my mistakes, gain valuable experience and build resilience. Whether it’s through words of encouragement, financial support, or offering practical assistance, they have been with me every step of the way, providing me with the tools and resources I need to succeed. I am truly grateful for their love and support.
