We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Leslye Rivera. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Leslye below.
Hi Leslye, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
The development of my self-confidence and self-esteem has been thanks to valuing my creativity and trusting in the power of art. I am an art therapist and the ability to express my emotions through art and being aware of being an authentic woman has helped me to be happy and accept myself as I am.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Leslye Rivera, psychologist, art therapist, author of two books on personal growth and founder of Creomás, an art therapy studio where I offer online sessions, expressive workshops and resources for self-knowledge through art. This business was born in 2018 in Texas and has currently moved to Florida in 2024 to help Hispanic women get to know themselves and find calm in the midst of chaos by expressing themselves through artistic means.
I am Chilean, wife and mother of two. Lover of creativity, the sea, natural life, the silence of the night and art in all its manifestations. My life has been a synergy between music, theater, painting, writing and human development, a journey that has allowed me to help many people, especially Latin American women, to nurture their life of well-being through art therapy processes.
“Getting to know myself through art”, “Creative writing”, “Female self-awareness dances”, “Psycho-expressive collage”, “I believe more in myself” and “Women’s circles” are some of the group experiences that I have facilitated over the years, putting my talents to work to create spaces for expression using a new language.
At 40 years old, I have decided to live a creative life and I am convinced that creativity is an inherent ability of every human being and when you manage to connect with it, your life changes completely.
In individual art therapy sessions, in addition to having the possibility of advancing in your self-discovery through art, you can develop your creativity and become aware of the tremendous potential that you have, both to create a simple painting and to manifest the life that you want and deserve.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The knowledge and skills that have influenced my personal and professional career have been, first of all, the study of psychology, creativity, self-knowledge and, finally, emotional intelligence.
My advice to those people who are starting their career is to connect with their creativity and with that passion that makes their heart vibrate. Many times we build a professional future based on the ideas of others, a path that does not make us happy. That is why I invite all people to be brave and believe in themselves, in their power to create the reality they dream of. Life is today and we are always on the right path if we are faithful and honest with ourselves.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I love connecting with creative women from all over the world who love art, self-discovery, and wellness. Women who love creating community, with conscious entrepreneurs who live in Florida who wish to collaborate on workshops, courses, and conferences related to art therapy, human development, emotional intelligence, and creativity.
