We recently connected with Melissa Frederick and have shared our conversation below.
Melissa, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I was born with a congenital heart condition that has required me to have 3 open heart surgeries, and I experienced a 100lb pharmaceutical weight gain as a young teen. Mid high school I was miserable in my body and experiencing heart complications and decided to get off the pharmaceuticals to lose weight. I worked with a famous hypnotherapist who is now deceased and along the journey to health I also was introduced to Donna Eden Energy Medicine. I participated in a 5-day retreat with her and others at Omega Institute and continued into her certification program where I completed the first year of training. I was in college at this time, I’d offer energy work to friends when interested and continued with my own practice. Eventually I got my health coaching certification from IIN and moved forward in the health coaching world.
I should say that, for a long time, the energy work world was calling me, but there was an underlying fear as I had had spiritual encounters as a young child that scared me, and I spent a lot of my childhood shutting down my gifts. So throughout this time, as I am doing nutrition and health coaching, there are situations that the universe keeps throwing at me where I have to hold big energetic space or do big intense energy work and it got to the point where I could not deny that that’s where I belonged.
Over the years as I was on my own spiritual growth journey I spent about 10 years working with my Shaman. I participated in her Shamanic Apprenticeship spanning 2019 to 2020 and that’s when I really began to own my true gifts. At this time the mushrooms also decided they wanted to come in and play and so, as I have created my own practice, I now offer my healings and insight and my relationship with the plant medicine and the energy worlds to help others cultivate more joy, lightness and expansion.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My formal shamanic training coincided with psilocybin coming into my life. I was about midway through my apprenticeship when Covid hit and I left town for my family’s ranch in North Texas. My best friend left Denver to join me with my kids (my ex husband) and her dogs and the medicine.
I began a bi-monthly ceremonial practice that led me deeply into my power and allowed me to better hone my gifts which gave me the courage to ask for a divorce. After the massive and swift growth and change along with my consistent practice I was led to offering this more formally. I have been doing so for the past three years and have recently completed a psychedelic facilitator certification program.
There are currently several ways of working with me. I curate luxury packages with everything needed to create your own magical experience. These offerings range from high end luxurious physical packages with furs, blankets, lights, smudge, etc alongside medicine, pre ceremony, on call during ceremony, and follow up integration support….to my monthly “Girls Night In” offering where it’s more low key, virtually guided with a smaller self care focused package.
I also offer custom microdosing packages and 1:1 energy moving sessions.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’ve always been very persistent. It’s served me well with all of the health challenges I’ve overcome. I’ve always followed my inner guidance/intuition which has led me to a very authentic life. I feel deeply and have always had a big heart making this work second nature.
I feel like the biggest most important thing for a young person beginning their journey is to explore and listen to their gut or intuition and act accordingly as it will never let you down.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I have just come off an intensive 7 month psychedelic certification program where naturally tons of growth took place. Since having divorced I’m re-partnered and we have a 1.5year old. When I got pregnant my medicine practice fell away and it wasn’t until I began my certification program back in March that the baby was old enough for my personal ceremonial practice to pick up again. We had multiple monthly calls alongside one ceremony each month. Each ceremony had its own unique teaching but a few of the ceremonies I experienced had significantly intense lessons that have made me a significantly better and more knowledgeable facilitator. I’m proud to be on the other side and into the new affiliation that continues on for us graduates.
