Meet Joseph Swanigan

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Joseph Swanigan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience? Good question ….id say from being born an extreme not have to the point I did not have proper parental support and had to become that for my siblings and loved ones in many shapes and forms I’m still there

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m primarily a music artist writing songs and or lyrics encompassing melodies etc but I use majority of my proceeds to give back where I can . It’s exciting to me when a child who knows your music or not is inspired by. Generosity I feel community and compassion are amongst the most important things we can teach our youth and selves

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I’m still on my journey .. and the number one most important thing is take risks don’t be scared to fail …secondly I’d say listen often talk less u can learn form any and everybody and being even if it’s what not to learn and number three for me personally is have faith

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I’ve learned we don’t stress what we can’t change and we change what makes us stress
