We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kristal Holloway. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kristal below.
Kristal, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my mom!
She was a single mom to five children who did it all on her own. She ensured she gave me every opportunity possible to succeed and taught me what hard work and dedication looks like while being the absolute best mom out there.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
When I first started making sourdough I never expected I would make a business out of it!
I started making it for my family so they could enjoy bread with healthy and wholesome ingredients! I absolutely fell in love with making sourdough and my husband suggested I turn it into a business! Once I launched my business in September of 2023, and ever since I have received and outpouring of love and support from my community!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My three most important skills that have helped me in my journey of a business owner are having good communication and organization skills along with a strong work ethic!
Owning your own business comes with trials and tribulations, so being able to communicate effectively and stay organized have been very helpful for me! Having a strong work ethic also comes in handy for all the late night baking!
My advice for those who are early in there journey is to stay positive and remember the reason you started!
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me is showing me the value of hard work. Growing up my dad ran a landscaping company and I wanted my own horse very badly, but I was not even 10 years old so I couldn’t make money in a traditional job setting. It was the summer and here in Florida that’s a very busy season for landscaping, so every single day sun up to sun down I helped run the landscaping business, on a zero turn lawn mower. My dad taught me in his own yard and they I worked the entire summer and bought my first horse!
These values were instilled in me very young and have been so impactful in every aspect of my life!
