We recently connected with Lee Cipolla and have shared our conversation below.
Lee, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Through the process of creativity and making movies. When I’m in that world I feel like I can be myself and that brings about confidence that may be lacking in other areas of my life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I directed my first two feature films, HARDER THEY FALL and KNOW THY ENEMY, which were acquired by Lionsgate and distributed on Netflix. My third feature, THE SHIFT, starring Danny Glover, is available on Amazon Prime. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to direct content for major companies like Disney, Canon, AT&T, and Warner Bros., and I was honored to be part of Ron Howard’s Project Imagination program.
Most recently, I directed Rally Caps, a film starring Academy Award nominee Judd Hirsch and Amy Smart. It was acquired by Peacock and released on the platform on October 29, 2024. While I continue to develop new film projects and shows, I’m also focused on a new venture: opening a studio in Colorado. I want this studio to be a hub for creating all kinds of content, from films to podcasts, and I’m excited about the possibilities it holds for exploring new storytelling formats and ideas.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’d say these three things:
1. Gather as much experience as you can and don’t overthink things. Avoid paralysis by analysis—just work, create, and explore.
2.
Always be honest, both in life and in your work.
3.Read as much as you can.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My wife and partner, Katherine Borda.
