We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lucy Mardonvich. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lucy below.
Lucy , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Confidence and self-esteem are things I’ve built over time, and they’ve grown alongside my career here at Hollywood Production Center. Being in this role for over 20 years, I’ve learned that true confidence doesn’t come from knowing all the answers but from knowing that I can handle whatever comes my way. When I first started, I was eager but inexperienced; I didn’t always trust my voice. I’d watch others, listen carefully, and gradually realize that my perspective and my instincts brought real value.
As I took on more responsibility, I challenged myself to make even tough decisions and stand by them. Working with many talented individuals and diverse teams has taught me that I bring something unique to every situation, and that’s worth celebrating. Developing self-esteem has been about embracing my strengths and weaknesses. My team has seen me grow, make mistakes, learn from them, and push forward, and I think that journey builds trust and respect. For me, confidence is less about ‘having it all together’ and more about showing up authentically, day after day, knowing that I can face whatever comes next.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At Hollywood Production Center, I work as the director of business development and oversee a range of exciting initiatives that bring creative industries together in collaborative spaces. One thing that excites me most about our work is the constant flow of creativity and innovation; we’re always connecting visionaries across fashion, entertainment, and media who bring unique perspectives to our community. What’s truly special is seeing these connections flourish—where a designer might team up with a filmmaker or a tech innovator to create something new and impactful.
We’re thrilled to have launched Style House Hollywood within HPC, which provides an immersive coworking space tailored for fashion and lifestyle brands. With our recent partnership to host L.A. Fashion Weekend at HPC, we’re actively expanding our community and providing a stage for emerging designers and female entrepreneurs. It’s inspiring to be part of this energy, and I look forward to seeing where this journey takes us!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, the three qualities that have had the greatest impact on me are adaptability, relationship-building, and genuine curiosity. In a field where creative demands are constantly evolving, adaptability is crucial. I learned early on that flexibility—whether in problem-solving or embracing new ideas—is essential to navigating an industry that never sits still. For those starting out, I recommend embracing change and finding ways to stay open to new approaches.
Relationship-building has also been key. Success in any collaborative environment is rooted in strong, genuine connections. For those just beginning, I suggest focusing on building relationships based on trust and respect. Be intentional about meeting people from all backgrounds; you never know who will be part of your next breakthrough project.
Lastly, a deep curiosity has driven me to keep learning and stay engaged. This curiosity helps me stay informed about industry trends and empowers me to connect the dots between different creative fields. For newcomers, I advise following their interests wherever they lead and always asking questions. Building these habits early on will set a strong foundation for any career.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The biggest challenge I’m facing is encouraging people to return to a shared office space in a post-COVID world. With remote work now so deeply ingrained, some businesses and creatives are hesitant to commit to a physical workspace, even though we strongly believe in the value of in-person collaboration.
To address this, we’re focusing on creating spaces beyond traditional offices, offering unique amenities and experiences—like Style House Hollywood and exclusive industry events such as L.A. Fashion Weekend—that make coming into our space exciting and valuable. We’re also emphasizing flexibility, allowing people to ease back into the office environment on terms that work for them. We aim to make HPC a destination where professionals work and feel creatively inspired and connected.
