Meet Lili Wang

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lili Wang. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Lili , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

I would say my optimism comes from seeing other people’s success and just believing that I’m capable of achieving greatness. If they did it, why can’t I. I used to always see motivational / inspirational quotes hung up on my teacher’s wall and listen to motivational podcasts. I feel that staying positive and believing you can accomplish anything you set your mind to will take you farther than being negative and always doubting yourself, because it also drags other people down.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I have been a professional model for almost two years now. I worked with popular artists such as Polo G, Bia, Lakeyah, Teddy Swims in music videos, a BET TV series as a featured background, worked with brands from fashion, athletic, to CBD brands such as Shiekh, Body Envy and Koi CBD and walked a few runway shows. The most exciting part of my job is meeting people and experiencing things I haven’t before. It’s special because I actually enjoy it.

Along with that, I am building a brand called “Women Hustlers Club” where it’s about women uplifting and encouraging one another. We all come together to pursue our goals and aspirations, where laziness and failing is not an option. Being our own boss and biggest supporter.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Confidence, communication, and thick skin. Confidence can be built by practicing a skill over and over again and exposing yourself to new situations. Communication shouldn’t be hard but it’s one that most people lack. Pick up the phone and update people if you aren’t going to show up, or running late. Having thick skin can be developed by facing rejection and accepting that most of the times, it’s because you don’t match the description at the moment and something more suitable will come along. All three of these will get you far.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

I would actually going outside and after whatever I wanted to pursue. For a period of time, I just wanted to stay home and it wasn’t allowing me to meet the right people and expand my mindset as much as I would have liked to. It gave me more confidence in myself and my abilities, along with learning how to network with people and speak to people I wouldn’t usually talk to.
