Meet Reed Navarro

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Reed Navarro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Reed, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I’ve always beat to my own drum. From a very young age I understood the speed at which life passes. I know who I am and I like me! I think it’s easy to waste time worrying about what others think. At the end of the day it’s just that, a waste. You must be unapologetically yourself. You only get one life! I think confidence and self esteem directly stem from being authentic. I think it’s something easy to master when you’re not concerned with the opinions of others.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m an Artist! I define myself by mediums of choice, resin & alcohol inks. I’m most known for my Floral Preservation, Candy Wall Art, and my Alcohol Ink Paintings! I’ve been on my artistic journey for a little over 3 years now. I have sold my alcohol ink paintings all over the world. I have my candy artwork displayed on the largest cruise ship in the world, Wonder Of The Seas. My alcohol ink paintings cover the walls of one of Spokane’s newest restaurants Loren. I’ve worked with HBO & Million Dollar Listing’s Ryan Serhant to create candy installations for their projects.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My goal was never to start a business. I simply was looking for a creative outlet and decided to share it on my social media. If you want to be a successful artist I believe you just have to be willing to fail. You have to play, practice, learn, put yourself out there. Some of my most loved pieces never found a home and some of the pieces I wasn’t crazy about sold in minutes. Beauty is an individual thing. Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone journey is unique! Put yourself out there, keep trying new things, and eventually your people will find you.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
As an artist it’s so easy to get burnt out when you become a business. This last year my business grew exponentially! My business is 90% custom orders. Which at times can feel monotonous and not like I have the freedom to create how I’d like to. So I have scheduled more time this coming year to create more original artwork. I think finding your balance as an artist/business is key to fulfilling your creative desires.
