Meet Sierra Wyatt

We were lucky to catch up with Sierra Wyatt recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sierra , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose through a combination of personal experiences and a deep commitment to my family. As a single mother of six, I was determined to build a life that not only supported my children but also allowed me to pursue my passion for hairstyling. After my divorce in 2021, I was just beginning my journey in the hair industry, and I quickly realized that I needed to create a work environment that could accommodate my children’s schedules. This led me to establish a space where both mothers and children could feel comfortable and cared for. My goal was to offer a setting where moms could be pampered and relax while their children enjoyed a safe, playful environment. It was through this process of combining my personal challenges with my love for my craft that I truly discovered my purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello! I’m 35 years old, a proud single mama, and a Utah native. As a passionate hair and beauty professional, I created an in-home salon designed specifically to cater to both women and children. I wanted to build a space where moms could enjoy a relaxing, pampering experience while their kids play safely and have fun.

Helping people has always been at the core of who I am, and my love for the beauty industry made it possible for me to combine my passion for hairstyling with my desire to create a welcoming, family-friendly environment. I specialize in blonding and fashion colors—give me anything vibrant and full of life! I find true expression in my craft and don’t consider it “work” at all. To me, hairstyling is an art, and there’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone feel beautiful and confident again.

As a mom of six, including an autistic child, I understand the unique challenges some children face. I have experience working with children with special needs and can cater to those who may require a quieter, more calming environment. I strive to create a space that is welcoming and adaptable to every child’s needs, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable.

I know how hard it can be for moms to find time for themselves and feel their best, so I’ve made it my mission to ensure every mom who walks through my door feels loved, beautiful, and taken care of. I also have a special love for kids, and as a mom myself, I’m always happy to welcome extra little ones. The sounds of laughter and play fills my heart with joy, and I’m grateful every day to be able to create a space where both moms and kids can feel safe, happy, and pampered.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey, there are three key qualities that have had the most significant impact on both my personal and professional growth:

Empathy and Understanding
Being a mom of six, including an autistic child, has taught me the importance of empathy in all aspects of life. It’s crucial to understand not just the needs of the people you’re working with, but also their unique struggles and circumstances. Whether I’m working with children who need a quieter space or creating a nurturing environment for moms who are seeking some peace and self-care, being attuned to the needs of others has been the foundation of my business.

Advice: To develop empathy, take the time to listen and connect with others. Learn to see the world from their perspective. In the beauty industry, especially when working with families, building trust through empathy will set you apart and create long-lasting relationships.

Creativity and Artistic Expression
Hairstyling is my passion, and it’s a form of art for me. The ability to take a client’s vision and bring it to life with color, texture, and style is what makes every day exciting and fulfilling. Specializing in blonding and fashion colors has allowed me to stay inspired and keep my work fresh and engaging. The creative process keeps me motivated, and seeing clients light up when they see their transformation is incredibly rewarding.

Advice: Don’t be afraid to experiment and keep pushing your creative boundaries. Continue to learn new techniques, and don’t shy away from bold choices. Art is ever-evolving, and the more you embrace it, the more you’ll find joy and fulfillment in your work.

Adaptability and Problem-Solving
As a business owner and a mom, things don’t always go as planned. Having the ability to pivot and adapt when faced with challenges—whether it’s a sudden schedule change or a child needing extra care—has been key to my success. Being flexible has allowed me to meet both my clients’ and my family’s needs without compromising on quality or service.

Advice: Cultivate flexibility by being open to change and learning to approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset. In both business and life, things won’t always go according to plan. Embrace the unexpected, and you’ll grow stronger from it.

For those who are early in their journey, I would say: stay true to your passion, continuously hone your craft, and always keep the needs of others at the forefront. Develop a deep understanding of those you serve, whether it’s through empathy, creativity, or adaptability, and you’ll build a foundation for long-term success.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely! As an artist, I’m always excited about the opportunity to collaborate with others in the beauty and hair industry. I truly believe that supporting one another is a powerful way to elevate and expand our brands. I’m particularly interested in partnering with professionals like photographers, wedding planners, makeup artists, and brides to create beautiful, cohesive experiences for clients.
