We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alejandra Garcia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alejandra below.
Alejandra , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence and self-esteem were developed through a combination of personal growth, community support, and resilience. Growing up as a Mexican immigrant in the U.S., I faced the challenges of navigating two cultures, feeling different, and at times, facing language and identity barriers. These experiences initially left me feeling unsure of myself, but over time, they became the foundation of my strength.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of community and surrounding myself with people who uplift and inspire me. Latina Social Club DFW was born from my desire to create a space where Latinas could come together, feel seen, and celebrate each other’s uniqueness. By creating a supportive environment that prioritizes connection over competition, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is to help others see their worth, which, in turn, has strengthened my own confidence. Knowing I have a community of like-minded, strong women behind me has been incredibly empowering.
I also focused on personal growth by actively seeking opportunities to challenge myself. Whether it was launching this group, speaking up in professional settings, or stepping out of my comfort zone in other ways, each experience built my resilience and helped me become more comfortable in my own skin.
Ultimately, my journey to self-confidence is an ongoing process, but embracing my heritage, lifting up others, and pushing myself beyond my limits have been key. I want other Latinas to know they, too, can develop self-confidence by leaning into their identity, building community, and believing in their own power.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
The inspiration behind the club came from my experience of moving to DFW and noticing a lack of dedicated spaces for Latinas to connect, share, and celebrate our diverse backgrounds and stories. I wanted to create a place where Latina women could feel genuinely welcome, supported, and understood—whether they were native Spanish speakers, bicultural, or just beginning to explore their heritage.
What’s most exciting to me about Latina Social Club DFW is the energy and passion each member brings to the community. We’re more than just a social group; we’re a network of women committed to lifting each other up, supporting local Latin and BIPOC-owned businesses, and contributing to the wider DFW community. We don’t believe in gatekeeping or tearing each other down. Instead, we celebrate our shared experiences and help each other grow, both personally and professionally. I think what makes us special is this genuine commitment to building each other up and creating meaningful connections that go beyond just online interactions.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are beyond excited about our plans to grow and collaborate on new projects. With our one-year anniversary coming up in March, we’re planning a celebration to honor all that we’ve achieved together. We have so many fun collaborations and community events lined up that will bring our members closer and continue to build our network. Our vision is to make Latina Social Club DFW a cornerstone for Latina women in the area—a place that feels like home and a network that supports all our members’ dreams and goals.
Whether you’re new to the area or have been here for years, we’d love for you to join us in this journey, connect with inspiring women, and be part of something truly special. The best is yet to come!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, there are three qualities that stand out as being instrumental to both founding the Latina Social Club DFW and fostering my personal and professional growth: resilience, cultural pride, and relationship-building. These strengths helped me navigate challenges and create a thriving, supportive community.
Resilience has been crucial in overcoming the hurdles and self-doubt that inevitably come with launching something new. Starting a community group and putting myself out there wasn’t always easy—I had moments of hesitation and fear of failure. But each challenge became a lesson in perseverance. For anyone early in their journey, I encourage practicing resilience by stepping out of your comfort zone and seeing challenges as learning experiences. The journey won’t always be smooth, but persistence will build your confidence and adaptability.
Embracing my identity as a Latina and celebrating our heritage has been a powerful source of motivation. The pride I feel for my culture fuels the mission of Latina Social Club DFW, creating a space where every Latina feels she belongs. To others starting their journey, I encourage finding strength in your unique story and cultural roots. Embrace the things that make you different—they are often your greatest strengths. Reflecting on what your heritage means to you and how it shapes your perspective can bring a depth and authenticity to your work that resonates with others.
Building strong, authentic relationships is at the heart of what I do. From connecting with members of Latina Social Club DFW to working with local businesses and community leaders, each relationship has added value and meaning to our group. For those just starting out, focus on building connections rooted in mutual support and shared values. Networking is about more than just making contacts; it’s about genuinely supporting and learning from each other. Seek mentors, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and find communities where you feel inspired and connected.
Ultimately, my advice to anyone at the start of their journey is to be patient with yourself, embrace the learning process, and stay true to what makes you unique. Developing these skills takes time, but with passion and commitment, you’ll build a foundation for success that is true to who you are.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
