Meet Richardo Jackson

We were lucky to catch up with Richardo Jackson ` recently and have shared our conversation below.

Richardo , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience comes from my culture, my parents and grandparents. When I think about my ability to withstand or recover from challanges, I think about the impact of my culture and upbringing and the lessons I have learned along the way and how it has enable me to become the person that I am today.

Similarly, my parents and grand-parents have been a constant guide throughout my life. They have imparted the wisdom they’ve learned over the years to me and my siblings, which has enabled us to face challenges and circumstances head-on. Processing information critically, while gathering as much information as possible to make decisions and being able to pivot as needed, when moving towards a desired goal or objective.

Without allowing the pressures of the current situations to weight me down. However, when it does become too much, I have learned to ask for help when addressing issues as well as find ways to disconnect and recharge. all of which can lead to new prospectives.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
No matter the field of work, if you are passionate about what you do and do it to the best of your ability with the focus and precision, and always find ways to evaluate and make improvements. Identify mentors that can guide you through the process specifically in your field of work. Surround yourself with like-minded people and keep on learning, and improving your skills and abilities. Such as taking certificate courses, CEU and trainings, Read often and stay engaged in your area of work, by participating, engaging in community events and activities.

Trust the process. When you start an organization, it’s like having a baby and don’t want everyone holding your baby. You feel like you have to guard and protect your organization, which is true and you do. However, You have to trust the people that you working with you to be able to do their work, so you can keep focus on the big picture.

It’s not always going to be easy, so curate advisers and mentors, who you trust so that you have a sounding board, and find ways to decompress, distress, and rejuvenate so this way you can avoid it burn out and achieve your goals and objectives.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
As awareness about our programs and services grows, several particular challenges that we are facing right now are (1) generating more donations to assist clients with paying for labs and other health screenings, (2) securing funds that will be used towards engaging the community and providing educational activities, as well as HIV testing and STD screenings, and (3) identifying the right people who will be an asset to the organization. However, to address these challenges, we have designated links on our website at www.CampbellHealth.org where individuals and companies can make a one time or reoccurring donation that will enable us to continue to meet the needs, and the demands of the communities, we serve.
