Meet Jenny Shaw

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenny Shaw. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jenny, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Years ago, I realized that procrastination and inaction do not alleviate problems or discomforts in life. As a result, I committed to take action each day, no matter how small the goal may be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’ve been a painter for over forty years, but it wasn’t until five years ago that I began to focus on marketing and promoting myself. The art market has become quite chaotic with the rapid changes in technology. For the past few years, I have explored traditional methods of exhibiting my work, but I also dedicated the entire year of 2024 to working on online platforms, Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the success I had hoped for.

I am truly grateful that I don’t rely on art income, as it allows me the freedom to paint from my heart and soul. Right now, I’m working on a new series, and while I haven’t settled on a specific theme yet, the positive, uplifting, and enlightening aspects consistently shine through in each painting. I’m very happy with the results so far.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities:
1. Stay positive and believe in yourself.
2. Embrace as many possibilities as you can to achieve your goals.
3. Continuously challenge yourself; don’t settle for what has already been accomplished.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Like many artists, we can be incredibly dedicated and spend all day painting, but often struggle with promoting our work. I would love to collaborate with one or two galleries to represent me and showcase my art regularly. While I have done some research, finding the right match is challenging, and it can be difficult to differentiate between legitimate opportunities and scams or vanity galleries.
