Meet Tryfe

We recently connected with Tryfe and have shared our conversation below.

TRYFE, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

When it comes to our purpose, I see it as something that is constantly pulling at us. We all choose to listen, and even choose to embrace it at our own pace. And that pace is dictated by our individual life experiences. From my time with other who feel they’ve found their purpose; when you look at your collective life, you usually see the pattern has been there from the beginning.

Long story short, you don’t find your purpose. It usually is slapping you in the face until you finally take heed. For me, I created in my head what I thought my life should look like, and what I should be doing. That thought is usually planted in our heads very young from our parents and community. I charged toward that with unwavering force. My resilience did bring some accomplishment, but it was not without a lot of battle fighting. When I look at my path of purpose, it was always easy, it always flowed to me without much force. Even with my purpose standing in my face, I ignored it for years, because it didn’t look like what I envisioned for myself. I struggled with walking into being such a bright light. Light attracts people who are in the dark. Light is warmth, and it attracts cold people. It is very difficult to process people wanting your light and not necessarily you. You have to learn balance and where/how to recharge.

My purpose is healing people through my music.

From the age of 6 I picked up the violin, then singing and playing the piano in high school/college. I started throwing parties when I was high school, that led to my interest in dj’ing in college. Up until about the age of 30, I looked at music, and musical expression as a hobby. I refused to let it become my identify. Mainly because I was told, music wasn’t profitable nor an commendable occupation. However, it became very difficult over time to ignore the impact I have on people. The moment I stopped fighting who I was, that’s when people began to celebrate who I am.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My life is focused in 3 main areas: Consulting, Performing and Philanthropy. Through all 3, I am able to show up exclusively as myself, to work in my purpose. At the end of last year, I started a consulting company called Seino & TRYFE. My focus is offering musical programming for events, venues, and restaurants. As well as producing my own specialized experiences. My second focus is TRYFE and the TRYFE brand, partnerships and performances. The final piece to my triad is giving back. through my foundation; The Viribus Foundation. Founded in 2018, in Washington D.C. to raise funds and awareness to Black and Brown Mental Health.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

You can be the most talented, have the biggest following, or whatever other moniker that one may use to gauge value; it doesn’t matter. Patience, Persistence, and Peace. You have to be patient when things aren’t moving at your pace. Be persistent when it’s barely moving. And find peace when nothing is moving. It doesn’t matter how much adversity is in front of you. It’s our choice to decide to conquer it or accept defeat.

Practice and learn the skills that are required for the journey that you have chosen.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

I was fortunate to have parents that provided opportunity to me. I am not the only person on earth with my set of skills, I am the one that was given the opportunity to cultivate them. My parents gave hours of their time and money to support my music, education, and creativity.
