Meet Les Techno

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Les Techno. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Les, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?

I listen to a wide variety of music. I like to experiment. One thing I do is stay prepared to dictate into a recording app in the middle of the night if I wake up with something going around in my head.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I have been writing and producing recording music, both acoustic and electronic. The genres range from rap and reggae dancehall to punk rock. Whatever sound interesting, I drill into it. Most recently the Solid Bass Records project has released records I have performed on, under the Les Techno brand, but also Spike Polite & Sewage, a local punk rock band. Our latest release is “Your Robot Took My Job”, which is a bit tongue in cheek response to the take of of AI.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Not giving up. Going with what feels right. Looking out for unforeseen consequences,.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

The world of music has transformed into the world of instant image where music is simply some kind of sauce. It is a function of social media, which is an opportunity for independent musicians but at the same time a curse. So now, mediocre music coupled with clever imaging comes to the forefront while interesting music falls to the side. Its too bad for the listener.
